Walking towards Liang Chen, Liang Chen turned his head to speak directly into her ear with a voice that only the two could hear, “Pay extra attention to Miss Jing for the next few days and make sure she doesn’t do anything rash.”
Nanny Lin was taken aback by these words. Instinctively, she glanced at Jing Haohao who seemed to be just fine, then she turned to Liang Chen with a puzzled expression.
Liang Chen noticed her bewilderment and spoke softly into her ear again, “Just do as I say and don’t ask questions.”
Nanny Lin quickly nodded in response.
Liang Chen then addressed Jing Haohao standing nearby. He spoke softly, “I am heading to the company. Relax at home and tell Nanny Lin if you need anything.”
Jing Haohao just stood there in quiet stillness, speaking with a soft voice, “Drive safely, goodbye.”
Liang Chen examined Jing Haohao a few more times. Finally, he opened the door and left. Jing Haohao remained standing by the door, listening to the sound of the car engine fading away before she slowly turned around and walked upstairs.

Although Nanny Lin was curious as to why Mr. Chen unexpectedly asked her to keep an eye on Miss Jing and ensure she didn’t do anything impulsive, she still dutifully checked on Haohao periodically, each time with a made-up excuse.
The first time she checked, Jing Haohao was watching a TV drama in her bedroom. It was a popular sitcom called “Love Apartment” that she reacted to with bursts of laughter at the funny moments.
The second time she checked, Jing Haohao was in the studio, drawing the scenic view from her window.

After having lunch, not half an hour had passed before Nanny Lin went upstairs again. Jing Haohao was lying in bed, preparing for her midday rest as usual. Nanny Lin thoughtfully adjusted the central air-conditioning to a slightly higher temperature.
In the afternoon, Nanny Lin went upstairs several more times. Each time, Jing Haohao was in the studio, continuing her unfinished painting from morning.
Liang Chen spent the whole day feeling uneasy in his company. There were many maids in his house and Nanny Lin was specifically instructed to look after Jing Haohao, so he knew nothing untoward should happen, but deep down, he was still anxious.
If Jing Haohao were lying in bed sadly, completely devoid of any interest in life, perhaps he would feel a little more at ease. Yet strangely, Jing Haohao behaved as if nothing had happened, which left him unsettled, a rollercoaster of instability, unable to find peace.
Thus, every once in a while, Liang Chen would call the villa. Each time, he would have Nanny Lin answer the phone and ask, “Is Miss Jing okay?”
