Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse

Chapter 179: Helicopter Rescue

Chapter 179: Helicopter Rescue

"Let me come with you! Please!" Mira cried desperately, looking hideous in her wounds and extremely pitiful in appearance.

However, Cauis and the others had their minds filled with their woman, how could they give an ounce of attention to a stranger?

Mira realized that they were ignoring her and were really about to take off and she yelled in desperation.

"I… I saw what happened!" She screamed, begging, "I will tell you what I saw if you take me with you!!"

She couldn’t get scarred! Hilten would become so powerful in the future, how could she keep him if she was ugly?!

"Only one can fit," Hugo said, and Ken stepped back. Without further ado, the helicopter flew up, not wanting to waste another second with unimportant personnel.

Mira was barely even inside when they lifted. She slipped, half her body falling. She screamed loudly but no one came. Fortunately, there was a handle nearby so she could pull herself up, heaving all her strength to crawl to safety.

Her heart beat erratically as she sat there filled with nerves, shock of almost falling unable to calm down.

She looked at the people who were all looking away, unbothered by all that was happening and she wanted to sob.

Mira settled herself in a hurry. She had no choice but to handle herself, trying to stop the bleeding on her face.

She wanted to call Kiko, but he was too focused on Khalifa. If she dared ask for his help, it was estimated the other men would throw her out the helicopter.

The vehicle stabilized midair, and both Hugo and Cauis just stayed by Khalifa’s side and looked on worriedly, praying desperately—whether they had a God or not.

They saw her increasingly pale and unconscious and they felt like their world stopped.

She grimaced in pain and every change in expression broke the men’s heart to pieces.

Pressure was applied around the ice shards to minimize the bleeding, but otherwise what they could do was limited.

Then the shards started to melt and their hearts dropped. Kiko looked at how the others paled and tried to comfort them. "The ice melting may not necessarily be a bad thing, as internal pressure would lower and blood would flow."

"Yes, but the bleeding is too strong," Cauis said, "Isn’t it better if we find a way to refreeze it?"

"It could damage tissues."

It was Hugo who answered, "You know her ability right? She said her tissues would never get damaged by cold as a passive."

Although it could’ve led to an infection in his case back then, Khalifa healed him quickly so it was never an issue. This was truer with her own body.

Kiko thought for a while and nodded, "That… could work, in theory."

The two men’s shoulders slumped a bit, relieved. Hugo bent to whisper to the woman lying down.

"Khalifa please surround your wounds with ice okay? Like what you did with mine back then," Hugo said, trying to talk gently next to her ears, trying to sound as calm as he could be.

His voice cracked every few syllables though, but that didn’t matter now.

Fortunately, she had enough mind to do so, and the men watched as new ice formed around her wound, completely stopping the bleeding.

As soon as she did so, she lost consciousness, and every change in her hit the men’s heart.

"Fly faster!!" Hugo roared, while Cauis almost whimpered as he held her hand.

"Yes boss!!" The driver, Joel, yelled back and did his best to hasten their travels.

When Hugo turned his head from yelling at the cockpit, his sights landed on the bleeding girl not too far. He was reminded why she was allowed on board in the first place.

"So what did you see?" Hugo finally asked. He swore whoever did this would die a thousand times.

The thought passed by his head and it was obvious with his sinister expression.

It was a terrifying look and Mira almost peed herself.

"A-Aubrey. It was Aubrey who threw it."

"What??" Cauis exclaimed, immediately looking extremely pale at the story.

Hugo turned to Cauis who seemed to have lost blood, before turning to the girl to get more information.

Mira cried and flinched in pain, as if unable to say any more with what she was feeling.

The men had no choice and looked at Kiko, who had already stabilized Khalifa. The large nurse nodded in understanding and went to deliver first aid to the girl.

Mira tried to stop herself from crying. If any other men were there maybe they’d be heartbroken too.

"Maybe I need… ice?" She asked, looking at Khalifa. He had burns! She needed ice!

The men immediately shook their heads, without a pause even.

"No. We’re close already," Hugo said, dismissing her pleas. "Continue speaking."

Mira bit her lips. She obviously needed ice as well! Just a little bit!

But then she saw the man’s terrifying cold eyes, she knew she had no choice but to speak.

She wouldn’t put it beyond this man to throw her down the helicopter for taking her time to answer!

So, she gathered herself and sniffed. "I… I was fighting nearby with Ken when I saw it. She held a grenade in her arm… I’m not sure how she got the grenade however, but I saw her glaring in a d-direction…

"I thought at first that she was aiming at the zombies, but then I saw Khalifa was there—

"She was crazy. I tried to stop her, but—ouch!"

"Talk later," Kiko suggested, "The poor girl is in extreme pain."

"Tsk," Hugo clicked his tongue and turned around, not even saying a word of gratitude, just sitting next to Khalifa, with their eyes only on her.

Every time Khalifa winced, they would look heartbroken. It was as if they literally shared the pain with her.

She also saw two other men there. There was a kid and there was another handsome man—a man she recognized as the popstar Sid.

They didn’t dare get close for fear of hindering Khalifa’s treatment, but now that she was slightly stable, they leaned down, as if praying for her as well.

Mira looked at how the men looked so concerned for Khalifa. And then her sights shifted to her own bleeding hand and aching face with no one to care for.

Even Kiko had left her side as soon as he finished whatever first aid he could give her at that moment.

Her facial wounds were left to fester when there was obviously a first aid measure ready on hand!

Her fist clenched.

Why was her life so hard?
