Chapter 171: Survivors in the Armory
Chapter 171: Survivors in the Armory
Khalifa rolled her eyes at the weird conversation.
A couple of leading men turned impatient with all the delays. They raised their guns threateningly, pointing at the cars.
"Everyone inside the cars, get out! Don’t make us check your cars one by one!" They yelled, "I swear we will kill anyone inside!"
Khalifa sighed, stepping out the car, and garnering a couple of gasps and gulps along the way.
Khalifa simply had that otherworldly beauty to her. Not to mention now that every other woman was so filthy and unkempt in comparison. The distance between her and women like Aubrey was not just sky vs earth.
The men looked at her lustfully, disgusting eyes tracing her face and figure, and it was obvious that more than a few recognized her.
Khalifa’s men immediately stood around her, blocking the sight of her from prying eyes, and sending threatening glares by the way.
Kylo’s eyebrows rose when he saw one of the approaching scums was familiar. It was one of the men he electrified—one of the men who almost raped Khalifa.
The man was glaring at him with a particular depth, though of course he wasn’t intimidated at all.
Cockroaches really did live forever.
However, he did worry about what the man could do. Insane people tended to do crazy things, after all. Oddly, he could tell that he was of some position here—based on how other men nodded at him with some respect—and he didn’t dare to alert him too much.
Anyway, Cauis’ and the others’ glares seemed to have done nothing after a while. After all, no matter how scary Kylo and the others were, the gangsters were feeling superior and complacent because of their guns.
They ogled Khalifa without shame.
"Wow!"
"Beautiful!"
"I call dibs!"
Khalifa raised her hand to stop her men from exploding.
She had to give them warning glares not to start fights. They were just looking and speaking, anyway.
The enemy was about almost thrice their number at more than 300, most of which were men. It was notable that there were no old people or children at all.
The women and young girls were also all scantily clad, most of which were filled with bruises.
Finally looking closer into the crowd, everyone frowned. It was obvious what had been going on in this place.
What made it worse was one of the civilians recognized one of the girls.
"Sister!!!" He yelled, hugging the girl. But the girl was unresponsive and was just staring into thin air.
The man whipped his head to the nearest local, and saw him just watching their interaction arrogantly.
"You bastards!" He yelled, lunging at him. The two quickly entered a scuffle and several guns pointed at them.
Immediately, their side also lifted their guns, and soon all guns were raised and they were at a standstill.
"Stop," Kylo said, intimidating as always, but the leaders knew they were superior in numbers and soldiers generally avoided unnecessary sacrifices.
The leader, a fat man with golden teeth, said, "You obviously broke our agreement first."
Kylo and the others didn’t have a comeback and the man grinned.
"Our agreement still stands but… we need to keep those girls hostages while you do your job."
"Especially her." The man said, pointing at Khalifa.
This naturally heckled a lot of feathers, and some even prepared to shoot. "You!!"
Khalifa felt supernatural power converge nearby, and she knew her men were about to explode.
"It’s fine," Khalifa said, calming them. She walked forward and ignored all the lustful stares directed at her.
"You can’t touch any of us," she said, and the men nodded pandering. It was just that they didn’t bother the greed in their eyes.
"Yes, yes."
They agreed, but inside their minds they were already fucking her to oblivion.
The other girls followed. They somewhat trusted Khalifa not to do stupid things so even if they were scared they took this one for the team.
Mira frowned, but she had no choice but to follow as well.
Khalifa’s men looked at each other and made a silent agreement. The others went ahead to take the machines, with Kylo going to open the system with the enemy leader.
Meanwhile, Kaize and Cauis stayed near the girls, watching like hawks.
Minutes ticked by with the girls shivering in fear, "Are we really going to be alright, Khalifa?" Mira asked, tears lining up, "If you could’ve just—"
"I won’t shield you in a gunfight." Khalifa said directly, knowing what she wanted to say, "You have a limited number of admirers willing to take a bullet for you too, so I suggest not starting a gunfight."
Mira paled. She felt the stares of the other girls and she flushed in shame. She was unable to keep a sharp glare directed at Khalifa, which just made the latter smirk.
"Done pretending?"
"That’s not what I mean!"
"Hmm, sure."
"Well, well, what do we have here?" The gangsters nearby couldn’t help but grin, "Don’t argue. It breaks our hearts."
Someone looked at Khalifa up and down, gulping down his drool. "If my phone still had battery, I’d have been watching your video with that guy." He said, pointing at Kaize who was on the verge of igniting him to flames.
"How amazing you still look so… clean." Another said, licking his lips.
She ignored them of course and just looked at her men, trying to tell them to calm down with her eyes.
The gangsters were disappointed at her non-responsiveness. Some even looked at each other and frowned at her ’ignorance’.
The man nearest her cursed and called her a bitch, extending his hand to touch her. However, a hand stopped him by grabbing his arm.
It was Kaize.
He frowned, about to say threatening words and raise his gun when he felt a painful burning sensation on his arm.
"You—ah!!"
And lost his footing in pain, yelling.
He was about to yell for him to be shot, but when he lifted his eyes to meet the Kaize’s his heart stopped.
Because it felt like he just met eyes with the devil.
