Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse

Chapter 170: Rowan Armory

Chapter 170: Rowan Armory

When the other men went back to the car about half an hour later, the two were already sitting properly as if nothing happened.

The two walked out of the car to start their ’shift’ with the men kissing Khalifa just because.

As they did though, Kaize couldn’t help but sniff a bit and his eyes darkened.

Similarly, Cauis’ sharp eyes also looked at Kylo. "You look nourished."

Kylo nodded impassively. "I consumed a lot of power stones."

He then turned to Khalifa, holding her hand. "Our turn," he said, and he gently pulled her far from the other men as they went out to fight again.

Kaize couldn’t help but pout in annoyance, glaring at the man’s back.

"Hmph! He acts like the god of asceticism when he’s just as horny as any of us!"

***

Hours later.

The team continued to go through a hard fight and they earned a couple of losses. However, thanks to Khalifa and the others, these losses were minimal.

Very soon, they finally arrived at their destination.

It was just that there was something unexpected. The gates and walls had guns pointed at them.

This told them one thing: There were people in the Armory.

The satellite that remained was ironically the twenty-year-old one, as the more advanced were manned and they somehow turned to zombies too.

Anyway, because the satellite was borderline-obsolete tech pre-apocalypse, the imagery they got was limited. They couldn’t see that there were already human survivors in the vicinity.

He took out the speaker of the car, unafraid of the small mob that it would likely attract. "We are a joint team from the Peace Base and the Capitol Base. Grant us entry."

This earned them scoffs from those protected by the walls.

It was safe to say they weren’t planning on opening the gates. In contrast, they were barraged with insults and gun threats instead.

Then Ryo and a few others got out of the car. Although they weren’t wearing uniforms, their stance alone reeked of soldier.

The guard frowned and paused, but scoffed in the end.

"I repeat, open the gates," Kylo said, patience running thin.

"Why would we? So what if you’re soldiers? The country fell weeks ago!"

It was Howard, the soldier with decent social skills, who moved forward, making his chubby frenemy, Laura, flinch.

Not far in the safety of a car, Laura couldn’t help but tense a bit, seeing the idiot walk closer to hostile guns.

"We mean no harm. We only need to gather more equipment for the survival of our species!"

"The only species we care about is ourselves!!"

Kylo sighed. Things have gotten more complicated now. After all, they couldn’t just take the place by force now, right?

In the apocalypse, there was no such thing as expropriation.

Moreover, if he forced it, it was estimated there’d be a gunfight. He was confident they’d win, but unnecessary losses were best avoided.

Howard paused and looked back at Kylo, who shook his head, signaling to compromise.

So, after a beat, Howard looked back to the guard and asked, "Do you have a weapons maker in your midst? We will only take the tools."

The guards frowned. "Who says we won’t have it in the future?"

"Well, we have experts here. We can help each other out—"

"NO! GO AWAY!" the guards said, "We don’t trust you!"

After all, in the other’s position, they definitely wouldn’t be trusted. How could they trust others?

Who would dare let potential enemies inside their defense? They weren’t stupid!

Anyway, all the noise naturally attracted zombie mobs and they approached their convoy from all sides.

From a far angle, the number of zombies congregating was very intimidating.

It actually made those inside the safety of the 3-meter walls of the armory happy. They smirked, looking down on their unwelcome guests in glee. "That’s what you get for coming here!"

"Let us watch you get out of this alive!"

However, the show they wanted didn’t really happen.

Unexpectedly, the mob of about a hundred was taken down within a couple of minutes!

The people in the walls gaped, unable to see how it was all done. Sure the enemy had a lot of guns, but there were plenty of zombies that went down at a time!

Were their weapons so powerful that they didn’t even see it!?

"What the fuu—"

"As you can see, it’s not that we can’t force you. It’s just that we wouldn’t, not yet, unless we are forced." Ryo asked, starting to get a bit impatient.

"So… are you going to let us in or not?"

The people within the walls shivered a bit and at this time more people had arrived. It seemed that the boss had arrived just in time to see their show of force.

Instead of opening, however, more guns pointed at them.

"Who in the right mind would just let people take equipment from them, in this world, eh?!"

Well, it wasn’t that they didn’t have a point…

It was this time that Kylo had to step forward, tired of the endless back and forth. This time, he made the biggest compromise their side could take.

"The Rowan Armory is a weapons vault—a secured armory," he told them. "Most of the weapons are strictly placed in limited access facilities.

"You shouldn’t have too many weapons available, right? Because most of them are locked." He paused, "I can unlock it for you."

The men behind the gates paused, looking extremely conflicted.

There was indeed a massive vault. They had been trying to get past it for days, with no sign of it budging at all.

Based on intel from the survivors who worked there (mostly killed by their party already), the number of weapons inside was many times more than what they currently have access to.

Unfortunately, those who survived were useless and didn’t have access for a long time, so they had to suffer from the dreaded ’so near yet so far’ syndrome.

Although risky, how could they let the opportunity for access pass them by?

It took a while of discussion, with them planning some ’contingencies’, especially since the newcomers seemed very strong.

After finalizing the decision, one of the leader’s "Sure, but no guns can be raised by your party when you enter."

Very reluctantly, the gate opened, but all guns in the vicinity were pointed at them. Everyone was ready to pull the trigger at a moment’s notice.

It was quite scary but no one bothered to say they wanted to stay outside instead. At least inside, they were with the monsters of their team!

The car was stopped just inside the gate. The walls closed and people were asked to get out.

"Everyone, get out!" A man said, "And keep your hands up!!"

One by one, everyone filed out, revealing figures that were obviously doing much better than most of them.

The people inside the cars got down one by one, and almost immediately someone screamed.

"Cauis!!"

They turned to the voice and Khalifa—who had been about to go down—paused with raised eyebrows.

It was the professor’s ex-girlfriend, Aubrey. She looked unkempt and was wearing skimpy clothing. Even from her distance, she could see harsh kiss marks all over the woman’s body.

"Hey, woman!" The man next to her yelled, grabbing her hair, and pulling her back by force. Aubrey screamed and sobbed and turned to Cauis with large eyes, looking very pitiful.

"I—"

She looked so pitiful looking at Cauis, blinking, as if asking him to rescue her.

Cauis’ massaged his forehead.

"Shame," Kaize said, grinning, and Cauis gave him a pointed look.

"I’m not the one who had slept with dozens of women."

"..."

Speaking of Kaize’s exes, it was amazing that they had yet to encounter one when they already found Cauis’ one ex.

Recalling their personalities, Kaize thought most of them were probably dead by now. At least there were no flies associated with him.

Kylo and Jacob, on the other hand, were just particularly proud of having no exes.

However, Kaize had no time to be smug because another yell came looking for him soon after.

"Kaize!!"

Another woman came out from another side of the crowd. She was a voluptuous woman with a very good face.

Anyone who watched a bit of television would know that she was an actress before. Like Aubrey, she was filled with bruises and kiss marks all over her body—which was barely covered, by the way.

Like Aubrey, her large rounded eyes were fixed on Kaize, wearing an expression of finding the love of her life.

Kaize: "..."

That slap came way too fast.
