Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse

Chapter 146: Earth and Fire

Chapter 146: Earth and Fire

A Few Hours Ago.

A certain redhead watched the downloaded digital map very closely. The dot representing their woman had been in that one spot located in the hills—it was a base, from what they could see.

This was a relief because that meant she was safe, and perhaps just relaxing.

But… a relaxed Khalifa was a horny Khalifa.

His eyes twitched.

However, he didn’t even have the time to dwell on this as the dot suddenly moved to another direction.

"She changed positions!" Kaize yelled as he drove the armored car through the traffic, attracting some zombies along the way.

He frowned. They were so close! Less than an hour apart!

"Where are they heading?" Cauis asked as his hand gripped the wheel. Kaize looked closer at the map, and studied where she could be heading.

He paled. "Hospital G."

"What?" Cauis also asked worriedly. Was she alright?

"Hurry up!"

"Don’t you think I know that?"

Half a day ago, after settling everything with the caretakers at the base, the two of them left the settlement to fetch their woman.

They felt that if they let her roam free, she would take even more men home than they’d thought!

Most importantly, they really missed her and their whole beings were hungry to see her smile, feel her warmth, hear her voice, and bury themselves in her softness..

In any case, they followed the GPS and went in her direction. However, they were not without some detours to shake off the zombies.

They wouldn’t want to make things harder for her by attracting a horde, would they?

Anyway, after about an hour of following-the-dot, they finally saw their team.

They saw her small group being swallowed by a few hundred zombies, slowly getting consumed and killed off.

And from the thousand or so corpses lying on the ground, it could be said that they had already fought very hard—especially their Khalifa.

Even at this moment, their woman was endlessly producing ice to kill dozens at a time, but there was too much. At this rate, she would run out of steam quite soon.

They didn’t even need to speak and they just ran head on to her.

As such, among the eerie dangerous wave of monsters, two shadows emerged, reigniting the fire of hope..

"A wall?!" One yelled, "All of a sudden?!"

"Fire!!"

The two quickly joined the crowd to deal with the ravenous zombies.

Kaize’s hand ignited and a ball of fire danced on his palm. He unleashed the fire, hitting several zombies.

The embers caught on their flesh and clothing, devouring them as fuel.

However, the zombies continued to move as if nothing happened. After all, zombies couldn’t feel pain, and they continued forward until their bodies were burned enough that they could no longer stand.

Fortunately, the zombie horde was dense and the fire spread quickly, consuming many in the flames.

On the other hand, Cauis connected with the earth under his feet. With resolute focus, a crack formed between him and a group, making the zombies lose their balance, stepped on by their brethren. Several spikes also come out, immobilizing several more.

While the soldiers were amazed but focused, quickly joining in the fight, the others didn’t have as strict of a discipline.

This was especially applicable to those who recognized the two newcomers.

"That’s Professor Hill!" The students yelled, and the others recognized the other man even faster.

"Kaize!!"

Anyway, their appearance injected a great momentum amongst the people and they had renewed energy in dealing with the horde.

Cauis looked at the civilians gaping with a frown. "Focus!!" He yelled, and his former students there were reminded of his stricter methods.

A bit scared they also joined in the fight, and their previous terror was overcome with renewed energy.

Some students even give furtive looks to his direction, as if waiting for praise.

Cauis ignored them and continued to throw spikes and walls as needed.

Although earth wasn’t as destructive as fire, because he could use existing earth, he consumed energy a lot less than Kaize’s fire, which required ignition from thin air.

As such, many minutes passed and he was fine, while Kaize was already sweating. This was something he’d normally be smug about, if their situation wasn’t so dire.

In any case, after fighting together for an entire week of life and death practice, Kaize and Caius coordinated very well, with Cauis immobilizing and creating obstacles against hordes, and Kaize being responsible for the main destruction of their bodies.

Along with Khalifa, who continuously produced ice scythes, as well as Jacob, who roamed around zombies as if invisible to them, the two were also quite lethal.

The four striking down zombies in awe-inspiring manner was a magical sight, and it etched into the hearts of those who watched them.

The three supernaturalists, along with Jacob and the fighters, cleared up most of the zombies to the point that they didn’t need to run away from the horde anymore.

They just… cleaned it up for the rest of humanity.

But, while it earned the obsessive admiration of most, it also hurt some people’s eyes.

***

When the fight was over the two newcomers ignored the people trying to talk to them, intent to find Khalifa in the crowd.

It was not easy of course, as there were a lot of people they had to avoid.

After all, Caius was popular among his students, not to mention the superstar Kaize who had fans all over the country.

Included in the dozens of people who greeted them and were ignored was Mira and Laura.

They watched as the two dashing men looked for Khalifa with a worried look on their faces. Laura looked complicated while Mira tried to keep her jealousy from showing on her face.

And a lifetime of endurance had indeed let her master the art of ’faking it’, because she had a look of admiration—the same as almost everybody else—in her face when internally she wanted to stab someone’s face.
