Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse

Chapter 135: The Heroine’s Parents

Chapter 135: The Heroine’s Parents

On the boys side, except for the wounded and the unconscious ones, they were also having a discussion that was not less lively.

After they took a breath of course and arranged the wounded accordingly.

"She’s so beautiful!" One boy wistfully said. His companions nodded wildly.

"Like a goddess."

"Legit the best fap material. I wish she wore a skirt."

One of the speakers were the PE classmate that wanted to do her before. "I knew she was a beauty! Too bad professor Hill preempted me."

"And Kaize." Another added, wiggling his eyebrows. He happened to be one of the few blessed people to have managed to save the video in time before it got deleted from the net at lightning speeds.

Some of his friends, who had masturbated on her video, gaped at him and then whipped their heads to her.

"She was that woman!" Another gulped, looking obsessed. "It was so unbelievable that I didn’t recognize her immediately."

"If she came to school looking like that, it’s estimated she’s always being fucked somewhere."

But before they could chuckle and maybe fantasize even more, they felt cold on their backs. They shivered and saw Jacob’s eyes.

To be honest, they felt like they died a little.

On the other hand, there were two teachers who survived so far, who were also watching the interactions. One was the PE Instructor Helena and the other was the sexy Professor Janeth.

Helena gaped and blinked, but otherwise relieved this student of hers was fine. Still so strong…

Now she wondered how she’d be as strong.

Would she be able to do so as well? So she could protect those important to her.

Janeth on the other hand sauntered to them. Although she looked haggard, it was much better than the others.

However, most women looked at her in distaste and the lack of respect was obvious. She definitely did some questionable things the past week.

"Hello little girl." She said, looking up and down the woman.

The redhead would never admit the other woman was more beautiful or sexier than her.

At the very least, her boobs were larger.

"You’re Cauis’ lover?" She said so in the way people would think they had a thing.

"Hmm…"

"You’re also his student."

"Hmmnn…"

"How’d you do it?"

"It’s just a man and a woman attracted to each other, and not just one party trying to hold on to the other."

The woman narrowed her eyes. "You must’ve used a lot of tricks." She asked.

She didn’t mean much malice.

It was just that Cauis had always intrigued her as the only man who had ever rejected her. It had been an obsession to find out what’s wrong.

"Hmm, I saw you trying to seduce him once, though he didn’t really like you."

"How could he look at others after meeting me, right?"

"You—"

Helena laughed at this and coughed in pain. Claire immediately went doctor-mode and handled it.

"Thanks," she smiled and faced Khalifa.

Who would’ve imagined that a little over month ago, this girl had been struggling with basic running classes.

"You exercised a lot these days, I see." She said with a teasing grin.

Khalifa chuckled. "Of course. Some credit is due to you, teacher." She said with a friendly smile. She always liked this PE teacher. Cool, gallant, and very pretty.

She also looked behind the woman and saw another ’acquaintance’. It was one of the guards that almost caught her and the professor back then during their nightly-office rendezvous.

Although… he had sadly lost an arm now. She could imagine what happened to the other one.

Khalifa didn’t stare for long. She only sighed at the tragedy of it all before shifting her attention back to Claire. "Where are you going?"

"We’re going to Community C now, three of us have houses there." She said and Khalifa nodded, expecting the answer.

"Don’t expect too much." She said, "We passed by there with a bit of noise and we only encountered zombies."

"What?" Claire and the others paled. "But, I…"

They awkwardly looked at each other. Was all this for naught? But they also wanted to see for sure. But after what Khalifa said, how could they dare ask the others to do anymore risks for people that could very well be dead?

Khalifa realized the dilemma she caused, and diffused the situation on her own. "Shall we take a look together?" She asked, and they immediately brightened in gratitude and relief.

She smiled, blinding a couple of eyes. "No problem," she said. "I also want to see what happens there."

This time was one of the milestones in Claire’s life, she hoped that Ryo wouldn’t be able to sneak in her heart at this vulnerable point in time.

As such, she decided to be the one to go with Claire. She was stronger anyway, so no one complained.

For the other two houses, she asked Jacob to guide the other students, and they went to the area together while the others rested in the makeshift camp.

They reached the house several minutes later, stopping by the gate to have a look.

The heroine’s house was just as she imagined according to the book description: Simple and cozy.

Khalifa felt really sad for this family.

In any case, neither of the girls stayed in a daze for long. Soon, she and Claire opened the door with their weapons up, ready for whatever might come their way.

Except for the dark rooms, no one greeted their entry.

"Mom? Dad?" Claire called out and there was no answer at first, which was more relieving to her. It was just that they soon heard the familiar groans and crawls instead.

Claire’s heart dropped but she held on to a little hope that some zombie must’ve found its way inside and her parents were just hiding.

"Mom? Dad!" She called again, hoping for humans to answer. But there were only scuffles and creepy groans.

Soon the figures appeared and the two raised their weapons. They did not do anything and watched their approach, and soon they were completely visible.

At the sight of them, Claire’s legs lost strength and she stared at them in a daze, tears flowing out of her eyes nonstop.

She froze and couldn’t do anything in shock. She could just watch them drag themselves to her direction.

Khalifa sighed and froze the two zombies, looking at them with a complicated expression. She patted Claire’s back, "I’ll end it." She said, not expecting Claire to do it herself.

"No…" Claire answered, lifting her head, forcing herself to look at her lifeless parents. "I… I want to end their suffering myself."

Khalifa paused and looked at Claire, waiting for her to reconsider.

However, realizing that the other girl was serious, Khalifa nodded and reinforced the ice around them to make it safer for Claire.

She was unclear as to why Claire would choose to do so, but she reckoned it had to do with closure. Killing them herself would let her face the emotions directly, helping her process the trauma.

As expected of the heroine, her strength was really something else.

Claire shakily raised her weapon, her peripheral view accidentally swiping on their family portrait not too far away.

Her eyes felt hot with tears, but she heaved a deep breath in the end, beheading them as quickly as she could to get it over with.

All this time, her tears were drooping nonstop, and she was shaking so crazily, but she bravely handled it anyway.

A few minutes later, Khalifa looked on as the girl watched her parents’ bodies burning, lacking the proper ceremonies they deserved.

Claire sobbed and sobbed on her shoulder, and Khalifa just comforted her as she could. "You don’t have parents anymore. But you’d have to live for them.

"There’s also Chris. I bet he must’ve been looking for you. How sad would he be to know your state after traveling so far?"

Claire sniffed and sobbed her heart out, until no more tears could come out.

It was a tragedy, but Claire would be far stronger from this point forward, and that would’ve made her parents proud.
