Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse

Chapter 136: Setting Up Camp

Chapter 136: Setting Up Camp

"How is she?" Helena whispered to Khalifa as she nose-pointed at Claire, who seemed to be in a daze.

Beside her we’re her roomates, comforting her.

"She’ll be fine."

"Are you coming with us?" Helena asked and Khalifa paused, before nodding.

Boba, who happened to be lingering around, made a comment to the person beside her, "I wonder how we’d all fit…"

Helen frowned and Khalifa smiled, turning to look in one direction. "We will get our car." She said, making Boba sneer.

No one took notice of her, and Khalifa went with Jacob to head to where they came from.

Hiding behind one of the buildings in this direction, she hid the motorcycle and took out the mini RV.

Anyway, the military cleared the road in front of them already and they might as well travel the next several hours in comfort.

When the RV appeared nearby, still a brand new one, Boba’s face flushed like a monkey’s butt.

Similarly, a few gazes of envy towards their direction were sent when they saw the vehicle.

It was too clean considering it was the apocalypse right? But most people just thought one of them was just over-compulsive and cleaned up every few hours, likely the somber looking young man with curly hair.

"Teacher, come with us." She told Helena, extending her hand to the gallant woman. The latter smiled and did not reject her kindness, and they entered the comfy looking RV together.

Janeth also stepped forward, rather naturally, but was blocked by the non-speaking Jacob.

She looked behind him and called Khalifa. "What is this?"

"What?"

"I’m a teacher too!"

"Yeah, but Teacher Helena is wounded protecting others."

She looked behind her to the men who were especially close to professor Janeth during the fight. "Just focus on your ride."

"You!"

But the door was closed and no one heard what she said after.

Mira’s eyes watched the whole exchange, all the while mumbling concerned words to Claire’s ears.

"I’m sure they’re happier in heaven." She told her, "They wouldn’t want you to be sad …"

Laura nodded. "If things would be like… this for a long time… maybe it’s not too bad they didn’t suffer for long?"

Claire nodded and absentmindedly thanked them, getting back to the military truck with the others.

Mira couldn’t help but look at the RV right behind them.

"You knew she was hiding so much?" She asked, but paused when she realized her words were tactless. "I just didn’t expect it."

Claire looked at her and nodded. "Well, an orphan with that face would’ve had a lot of trouble."

Laura blinked. "Hmm makes sense." Then frowned, "But her men."

"They’re all adults. They know what they’re doing."

Laura pursed her lips and didn’t speak. Logically, she knew Claire was right. Emotionally though, she found it a bit difficult to accept.

Such thoughts brewed in her mind even as they parted, and she was in a daze for some time later.

"Stop pouting, you’ll get chubbier." A familiar voice sounded next to her. It was even tilted with a chuckle and she glared at him for mocking her.

"No one asked you!" She said, and he only cackled at how stupid she was.

Who would’ve thought she’d encounter her childhood bully like this!

And he had a glow up! She, on the other hand, was still chubby! Annoying!

Darned Fatty Howard! How dare he look better!

However, without her noticing, the depression she was wallowing in had already been replaced by her annoyance with him instead.

Inside the RV, Khalifa guided the pretty PE teacher on the couch, serving her some cookies and drinks.

"T-Thank you…" Helena mumbled, very touched. But before she could start chatting up Khalifa, her eyes met with a sharp gaze right behind her.

It was Jacob, frowning deeply, staring at her bitterly.

Helena flinched at the unfriendly stare of the man. She awkwardly looked at Khalifa, "I’m… I’m not interrupting anything, am I?"

"He’ll be fine. He’s driving anyway." She said, "It’s not good to get distracted by sex, anyway."

Helena was surprised at how open this shy student was of this and couldn’t help but blush.

She was already in her mid-20s but she was very straight-laced and frankly a bit of a prude.

Her blush, however was quite pretty, Khalifa thought. It was like a flower about to bloom.

She curiously leaned over and stared deeply at this PE teacher of hers.

She happened to have overheard that she was a soldier before. Still in the same group as Ryo.

"You and that captain look good together."

"WHAT?" Helene exclaimed, blushing, "Oh no. We’re completely professional."

Khalifa’s pretty eyebrows rose at the reaction.

Oh?

Is there a new couple ship she’d be pushing???

The convoy soon started moving again, dealing with a couple of inevitable bumps along the road, despite the earlier clearing missions.

In a bump, Mira’s body suddenly bent in pain.

"Ow…"

"Are you alright, Mira?" Claire said, a little heartbroken. "You just got out of the hospital a week ago… you really shouldn’t be moving around so much…"

Mira sent Claire a gentle smile. "It’s fine, Claire. It’s nothing."

She sat up straight as if telling everyone she was alright, but her red eyes and cold sweat were saying otherwise.

Mira’s silent endurance gained quite a few admiring looks, as she wanted.

The next few hours were silent with the occasional gunshot. The students took this time to rest, while the soldiers guarded them well.

Fortunately, they were now in the suburbs going to an exclusive hill villa area where the Peace Base was situated. This meant the zombies had become much more manageable, at least for now.

The Peace Base. At the sound of this area, Mira’s fingers unconsciously clenched.

Mira knew that the leader of the Peace Base was Ryo’s Godfather.

This godfather was childless. Ryo was basically the heir.

He went to this rescue mission not only as his duty as a soldier, but also to cement his status in the base.

In her dream, she had been too focused on Chris and too intimidated to even consider Ryo that she missed this opportunity.

Her eyes sharpened, ending up in one of the vehicles up front.

She wouldn’t miss it again. Not anymore…
