Chapter 630 - 630 631 Birds and Fish (3)_1
?Chapter 630: Chapter 631 Birds and Fish (3)_1 Chapter 630: Chapter 631 Birds and Fish (3)_1 Since that day, Jing Haohao had stopped responding to any of Liang Chen’s messages. She muted his calls as well and tossed her phone into her bag, out of sight, out of mind.
Jing Haohao thought, in a few days, she would gradually get used to living without communicating with Liang Chen, and her life would return to normal.
However, she didn’t know if she had overestimated herself or underestimated the impact Liang Chen had on her. She found that her deliberate attempt to cut ties with him had only made her miss him more. Eventually, she lost her appetite and couldn’t sleep at night.
Although it was just three short days, Jing Haohao felt as if she had endured an extraordinarily long journey.
The days in Jiangshan City grew colder after the start of winter. Not sure if it was due to her chaotic lifestyle recently or the contrast between the heated indoors and cold outdoors, Jing Haohao had felt unwell before going to bed. When she woke up the next morning, her headache worsened and she had a stuffed nose. At the office, she mustered all her energy to get her work done. When she wanted to go for a cup of water, she saw the large bouquets of fresh flowers on her desk, still emitting faint fragrant scents.
It was then that Jing Haohao realized it had already been a week since the previous Friday, Singles’ Day. Today, Liang Chen would be returning to Jiangshan City from his business trip in Shanghai.
Thinking of Liang Chen, Jing Haohao felt an irregular rhythm in her chest, and her breath faltered. She stared at the fresh flowers for a long time, lowered her droopy eyelids finally, and went to the pantry.
Because of her cold, Jing Haohao didn’t have much appetite for lunch. She felt even worse in the afternoon and had a fever. There was a company gathering in the evening, which she declined and went home instead. She went to bed and quickly fell asleep in discomfort.
The sleep didn’t make Jing Haohao any better; she felt even worse. Her entire body was burning and dry.
In a daze, Jing Haohao climbed out of bed, wanting to get a cup of water. But then she heard someone knocking on the door.
With her glass in hand, Jing Haohao dragged her heavy body to the door and opened it. After just a glimpse of the visitor, she recognized who he was, and then suddenly, her brain swam, and she collapsed to the ground.
Then, she vaguely heard someone calling out anxiously, “Haohao? Haohao?!”
…
Due to the high fever, Jing Haohao was quite drowsy, but she could make out some sensations.
She felt someone lift her up gently and lay her on a soft bed, then heard the sound of a phone call being made in the blur. She made a great effort to focus on catching the voice, but her head was foggy, and she couldn’t make out the words clearly.
At some point, she felt someone holding her hand continuously. The hand’s palm was warm, giving her a reassuring comfort like how she felt when her dad used to hold her hand, guiding her through the dark town streets during her childhood. This gave her an indescribable feeling of ease and tranquility.
At some point, Jing Haohao woke up briefly. She opened her eyes, took a look around, then closed them tiredly and dozed back off.
This sleep was indeed longer. When she woke up again, it was already nightfall of the next day. There was pitch black outside the window, and the room was serene and quiet.
