?Chapter 623: Chapter 624 Pursuit (6)_1 Chapter 623: Chapter 624 Pursuit (6)_1 To be precise, she didn’t know how to face Liang Chen.

Jing Haohao stood in front of the door, took several deep breaths, then reached out with trembling hands to slip the key into the lock.

Before she had a chance to turn the key, there was a “click” and the door was pulled open from the inside by Liang Chen.

Startled, Jing Haohao forced herself to suppress the turmoil in her heart, attempting a natural smile to Liang Chen.

Liang Chen stepped aside, his gaze still fixed on Jing Haohao, carrying a probing curiosity.

As Jing Haohao walked past him, she could distinctly feel his presence. Her heart pounded heavily, and she quickly lowered her head and hurried into the house. Once inside, she went straight to the water dispenser and drank a glass of cold water. Agitated, she allowed herself to relax slightly.

Clutching her half-empty glass, Jing Haohao sat on the sofa and once again, her mind unwillingly lingered on Shen Liangnian’s words.

“Haohao, Liang Chen truly isn’t suitable for you. Don’t forget our background, and think about his. He and we live in completely different worlds. Haohao, don’t be naïve—there’s no such thing as an underprivileged person suddenly climbing the social ladder!”

Liang Chen’s background… indeed, the gap between her and him was immense.

Could two such starkly different individuals possibly have a future together?

Jing Haohao’s expression had grown vacant.

Liang Chen softly shut the door, walked past the foyer, glanced at Jing Haohao sitting on the sofa, and took a seat on her opposite side.

Jing Haohao seemed to remain unaware of his presence. She held her glass, her gaze fixed on the television in front of her.

Liang Chen said nothing, simply watching Jing Haohao. He couldn’t help but feel, after her encounter with Shen Liangnian, she seemed deep in thought.

That man was always able to effortlessly stir her emotions, just as she could control his sorrow and joy with a single word or action.

The room fell silent. Before they knew it, midnight had arrived.

Finally, Liang Chen broke the silence, “It’s getting late, why don’t we rest?”

Jing Haohao, startled by the sound, turned to look at him, absentmindedly uttering a soft “hmm?”.

What was she thinking about so intensely? Her brow was furrowed in thought, a hint of melancholy appeared across her distinguished features. Was she upset about something?

Was she distressed over Shen Liangnian?

No matter what he did, he could never compete with him in her heart…
Liang Chen felt suffocated, as if a heavy stone was pressing painfully against his heart. Struggling, he maintained his composure and advised Jing Haohao in as even a voice he could manage, “You should rest. It’s getting late, and I need to go.”

Jing Haohao nodded and then fell silent. She continued to stare blankly at the television ahead, as if she hadn’t heard a word Liang Chen had said.

Liang Chen swallowed hard, stood up, grabbed his car key and said, “Well, I’m leaving now. Goodbye.”
