There were few vehicles on this route. On his entire drive, Liang Chen only encountered a single private car and one coach.
The coach, probably due to recent rains, appeared quite dirty. Blue curtains covered its windows, obscuring the number of passengers inside from view.
By the time Liang Chen parked his car outside the “Qin King’s Palace”, it was already six o’clock. Numerous actors, having removed their makeup, were coming out from the main entrance of the grand hall.
Liang Chen leaned against a white railing, observing as the stream of people exiting the grand hall gradually lessened. After long waits, only one or two would emerge, but he hadn’t caught sight of Jing Haohao yet. The situation led Liang Chen to furrow his brows.
Just as he was about to step inside to have a look, a female actress walked out. She looked at him, her eyes filled with surprise and shyness, “Mr. Liang, are you here to see Jing Haohao?”
Liang Chen nodded, “Is Haohao inside?”
The actress shook her head, “Haohao only had half a day of filming this afternoon, and she returned to the hotel quite early.”
“Thank you.”

Liang Chen drove to the hotel, dialed Jing Haohao’s number from his car but received no answer.
Having waited for a while in his car, he called again but still received no response. An ominous feeling silently rose in his heart. After a moment’s delay, he got out of the car and headed into the hotel.
He knew Jing Haohao’s room number. He took the elevator directly to room 507, raised his hand and knocked on the door.
There was no response from inside.
Many people were coming and going through the hotel’s hallway, some occasionally stealing glances at him.
After around half an hour, Xian’er emerged from a room diagonally across. Noticing Liang Chen at the door, she was taken aback, “Mr. Liang, why are you here? Where is Haohao?”
The same query Xian’er asked, crossed Liang Chen’s mind in a nonchalant tone, “Where is Haohao?”
“Isn’t Haohao in the room?” Xian’er asked with confusion, pulling a room card from her bag, she opened the door and told Liang Chen, “Mr. Liang, please come in and have a seat.”
The bedding on the bed was messy, it seemed someone had been sleeping on it without tidying up afterwards. A few undergarments and two skirts were hanging on the hotel’s balcony.
Xian’er poured a glass of water for Liang Chen.
Liang Chen thanked her as he received the glass, glanced at Xian’er, and asked, “Did Haohao tell you where she was going?”
Xian’er shook her head, “When I left, she was asleep.”
Pausing for a moment, Xian’er said, “Haohao mentioned not to go downstairs to eat. Should I go look for her?”
“No need, I’ll go,” Liang Chen stood up after setting his glass down, paused midway and said, “May I use the bathroom?”
Xian’er nodded quickly.
Liang Chen then entered the bathroom and closed the door behind him.
After using the bathroom, as he was about to flush, his glance unintentionally swept over the waste bin beside. He noticed a box labeled “pregnancy test” thrown inside.
