?Chapter 456: Chapter 457: Relief (9)_1 Chapter 456: Chapter 457: Relief (9)_1 Jing Haohao only had one assistant, Xian’er, and she was a bit overwhelmed. When the other actors had taken care of everything and filming began again, Jing Haohao barely had time to take a sip of water before rushing back to the set.
Liang Chen stood in the shade of a tree watching for a while before turning away. When he returned, he held a large plastic bag in his hand. He stood outside the filming site, waiting for the shoot to finish, then walked towards the staff resting area.
Xian’er was wiping off Jing Haohao’s sweat and touching up her makeup.
Liang Chen approached them, picked up a fan from the side and took out a bottle of iced water from his bag. Opening it, he poured the water on the fan and began to fan Jing Haohao.
The cold water on the fan gave off a refreshing chill, instantly reducing the heat enveloping Jing Haohao.
Jing Haohao turned her head in surprise to find Liang Chen. She looked momentarily surprised.
Liang Chen didn’t pause his fanning. With his other hand, he offered Jing Haohao a bottle of mineral water, saying, “Dehydration can lead to heatstroke.”
Jing Haohao stared at him for a while before reaching out to take the mineral water. She took a long sip.
The cool water, the gentle breeze quickly suppressed the heat within her.
When Xian’er had finished touching up Jing Haohao’s makeup, Jing Haohao continued film shooting.
During Jing Haohao’s rest times, Liang Chen helped Xian’er with the routine tasks that an assistant would do.
After going back and forth about a dozen times, the director finally announced the end of that day’s shooting.
Jing Haohao and Xian’er went to the dressing room behind the great hall to remove their makeup and change their clothes. When they came out, Liang Chen was leaning against the gate of the great hall with his hands on the white railing. His white shirt billowed in the wind, faint traces of sweat stains visible. Jing Haohao couldn’t help but think back to the afternoon when she was resting. It was always him who was running around to fan her and keep her hydrated.
Because there weren’t any fridges around the set and water left outside in the sun would easily overheat, during the gaps in her filming, he’d run to the Qin King’s Palace rest stop to buy water. Perhaps fearing that he wouldn’t make it in time, he ran both ways.
He, a pampered young master used to a life of luxury, was all sweaty but didn’t complain in the slightest.
Standing at the entrance of the great hall, Jing Haohao looked at Liang Chen’s back. She couldn’t quite make sense of her feelings, finding them strangely unsettling, too disturbing to delve into.
Perhaps because Liang Chen had been waiting for quite a while and hadn’t seen Jing Haohao emerge, he turned around. Seeing Jing Haohao standing at the entrance of the great hall, he walked over and asked softly, “Got anything to do after this?”
Jing Haohao snapped out of her daze, shook her head, and replied, “Nothing.”
The sun hadn’t set yet, and the glow of the setting sun bathed Jing Haohao’s fair face with a hint of red, casting a translucent halo.
Her face was peaceful, not showing any signs of contempt or coldness. Even though she wasn’t smiling, it still made Liang Chen feel a subtle joy.
He stared at her for a long while before finally murmuring, “If you’re free, why not join me for dinner?”
Just as he finished speaking, his phone started ringing.
He fished it out of his pocket, glanced at Jing Haohao, and said, “Just give me a moment.”
Then, without regard for Jing Haohao’s presence, he answered the call on the spot.
