?Chapter 382: Chapter 383 Preparation (1)_1 Chapter 382: Chapter 383 Preparation (1)_1 Liang Chen furrowed his brows, a touch of confusion creeping in as he ruffled his hair.

The Jing Haohao who had wept as if the world was ending last night… why did she seem perfectly fine today?

Could it be that he was so desperate for Jing Haohao to move on from the pain and trauma that Shen Liangnian had inflicted on her, that he was starting to hallucinate?

The more Liang Chen thought about it, the more plausible it seemed. Without even bothering to get dressed or freshen up, he frantically got out of bed and bolted out of the bedroom. He raced downstairs, made a round through the living room, but he didn’t see Jing Haohao. Liang Chen then headed straight for the dining room.

As soon as Liang Chen pushed open the door, he heard Jing Haohao’s voice, “Don’t bother going up to wake him. I saw him awake when I came downstairs. I bet he’ll be down in a moment.”

Jing Haohao’s voice sounded just like it always did, gentle, soft, and sweet, with not a trace of the sadness or grief one would expect.

Liang Chen found himself even more puzzled. Logically, after the many years Jing Haohao had dedicated herself to him, the betrayal from Shen Liangnian should have left her listless, broken, and inconsolable.

Could Shen Liangnian’s infidelity have shocked Jing Haohao so much that she had gone numb?

On the eighth day of the New Year, most of the house staff had returned to the villa. Catching sight of Liang Chen standing by the entrance of the dining room, one of them quickly greeted, “Good morning, Mr. Chen.”

“Mr. Chen is up?” Nanny Lin’s voice then followed from inside the dining room, and then the sound of footsteps, and the door to the dining room was pulled open from the inside.

As a rule, when Liang Chen came downstairs, he was always dressed immaculately. So, when Nanny Lin opened the door to find Liang Chen disheveled and unkempt, she hesitated for a moment before quickly lowering her head and greeting, “Mr. Chen.”

Only then did Liang Chen snap out of his thoughts. Glancing at Jing Haohao, who was sitting at the dining table ready to eat her breakfast, he mumbled a vague affirmation and turned to go back upstairs.

When Liang Chen reappeared, he was dressed in a sharp suit, his tie perfectly in place, hair meticulously groomed; he looked sharp and invigorating.

He walked to the dining table and casually took his seat on the chair that Nanny Lin had already pulled out for him. Not waiting for Nanny Lin to ask what he wanted for breakfast, he pointed to Jing Haohao’s breakfast and said, “The same as her.”

Nanny Lin quickly served him a breakfast identical to that of Jing Haohao’s: a bowl of vegetable porridge, a stack of pickled vegetables, two custard buns, a glass of milk, and an egg.

Liang Chen stirred his porridge with a spoon, his gaze glued on Jing Haohao. He couldn’t stop scanning her, hoping to discern even the slightest clue from her expression.
