Jing Haohao was in a delirious state the whole time. She felt something icy cold moving around her body. Although her body was burning up, the icy cold item left her trembling with cold. She was in such discomfort that she couldn’t stop her body from shivering.
After an unknown period, the cold thing was finally removed from her body. Then she heard a familiar voice, although she couldn’t remember where she’d heard it before: “Her temperature is 39.8 degrees. I need to give her an injection to bring down this fever.”

Just as Jing Haohao was pondering over this, she felt a sharp pain in her arm. Her reflex was to escape, but a warm arm held her close, rendering her immobile.
The sharp needle seemed to be touching her bone, causing her so much pain that she almost burst into tears. She could even feel the medicine being slowly pushed into her body, prompting her hand to tremble uncontrollably.
“Haohao, hold on, it will be over soon.” She suddenly heard a deep voice by her ear. The voice was pleasing, resembling the sound of the cello that she was fascinated with when she was a child. Then her trembling hand was tightly grasped by a larger one. The larger hand was warm, enveloping hers, relieving most of the pain on her arm. She couldn’t help but grip this hand back.
The arm holding her tightened slightly, and she was then pulled into a broad and sturdy chest. The embrace was warm and comfortable. She couldn’t help but snuggle deeper into his embrace. After that, she felt him squeeze her hand back.
After the injection, she was examined again. After a while, she heard the familiar voice again: “There’s no serious problem. She just suddenly came down with a high fever because of the cold. Her heart, lungs, and brain are all fine. Use an alcohol-soaked towel to wipe her body to bring down the temperature, just in case prolonged fever causes issues.”
Then, the soothing voice followed: “Alright, I understand.”
After a moment’s pause, the soothing voice continued: “I’m worried she might need more care later. I’ll have Nanny Lin prepare the guest room now for your rest, so you can be nearby if something happens.”
“Alright, remember to give her these pills later and encourage her to drink more water. Excessive sweating from fever may lead to dehydration.”
“Understood, thank you. Nanny Lin, please show Doctor Zhang to his rest.”
Soon after, Jing Haohao heard the sound of two sets of footsteps gradually fading away, settling the room into silence.
Not long after, she felt the quilt on her body being lifted. The person’s touch was gentle as they untied her clothing, and a cool towel touched her body, strong with the scent of alcohol. The heat in her body started dissipating, as if the raging fire within her was finally tamed.
