?Chapter 177: Chapter 178: Mockery (1)_1 Chapter 177: Chapter 178: Mockery (1)_1 Jing Haohao and Liang Chen both turned towards the source of the noise, seeing Cong Rong and Shen Liangnian both emerging from the Four Seasons Hotel.
In Shen Liangnian’s hand, he is holding a cigarette. The moment he saw Liang Chen, his steps faltered but he remained silent.
Cong Rong, on the other hand, stepped forward with a hearty laugh. He playfully said to Liang Chen, “Oh boy, Chen, it seems we have quite the fate, don’t you think? I mean, this is my first time visiting the Four Seasons Hotel in months and here I am bumping into you.”
“Fate?” Liang Chen chuckled dismissively. “You’re insulting the word ‘fate’. What you’re experiencing is clearly just poor luck.”
Cong Rong muttered a cuss under his breath, extinguished the cigarette in his hand and skillfully flicked it into a nearby trash bin. He then put on a disheartened facade, proclaiming, “Chen, listen, my heart is bleeding. I’ve been missing you and this is how you treat me…”
Liang Chen put on an air of indifference towards Cong Rong. He nodded arrogantly at Shen Liangnian who was standing next to Cong Rong; a silent greeting.
Shen Liangnian tugged at his lips but remained silent, continuing to puff heavily on his cigarette.
Jing Haohao paused midway through getting out of the car, her gaze fixated on Shen Liangnian. She wondered whether the smoke billowing from his mouth was clouding her vision. Everything in front of her gradually became hazy.
Cong Rong took notice of the stationary car on the side of the road and pointed at it. “Chen, isn’t this car from your household? Why did you bring it here today?”
Only then did Liang Chen realize that Jing Haohao hadn’t come out of the car. He turned around and asked her, “Why haven’t you come out yet?”
“There’s someone in the car? Who is it? It couldn’t be a woman, could it?” Cong Rong said, bending down to peer into the car.
Countless people in the world anticipate reuniting with someone they once knew. However, at that very moment, Jing Haohao wished she had some special power that would make her vanish from the car.
Cong Rong was a friend of Shen Liangnian. Shen Liangnian had personally introduced her to Cong Rong. She feared that her presence in Liang Chen’s car would not only make her feel awkward, but Shen Liangnian as well.
Out of instinct, Jing Haohao lowered her head as Cong Rong looked into the car, letting her long, black hair conceal her face.
Cong Rong, who had always teased Liang Chen for not having a female company, was now staring wide-eyed at the figure in the car – a woman with flowing hair. Astonished, he pointed at Jing Haohao and stuttered, “Wait…I’m not seeing things, right…there’s really a woman in there?”
Liang Chen stood by the side, silently observing the scene with an amused expression.
Cong Rong stared at Jing Haohao for a while, then turned to Liang Chen and stared at him too. Soon after, he looked towards the driver and Nanny Lin, asking, “Are you sure there’s a woman in the car?”
“Mr. Cong Rong, you sure know how to joke. Of course, Miss Jing is a real woman, what else would she be?” Nanny Lin cheerily answered.
Cong Rong immediately stiffened.
Upon hearing the words “Miss Jing”, Shen Liangnian’s fingers, holding onto the cigarette, trembled violently.
