Chapter 87: First Day of Chaos (Part 2)
There was a more pressing problem than a fast car: She couldn’t drive!
At the very least, she could not drive well even if her life depended on it!
It wasn’t that she hadn’t tried. But she discovered that she had an uncanny ability to destroy the cars she was driving. After a lot of trials and destroyed cars (and this was going 10-15 km/hr), the men gave up teaching her in the end, because they believed she wouldn’t have needed it in the first place!
Who would’ve thought—
Sigh.
But, even if she couldn’t drive, she couldn’t, in her right mind, go out there and try going on a killing spree. She was not so arrogant yet, not when her powers were grossly limited.
She looked at her soft hands, manifesting a small water ball. So small, yet she could feel a little of her power getting reduced. Not even a part of her old powers were recovered.
Anyway, she was currently in the middle of a downtown area, nearer to the capital than any other city. She took a look at the map and saw that City G had the nearest safe house she built. She could use these as stop overs.
The best case was for her to find a car that wouldn’t be crashed after a few minutes with her.
She looked at the empty driver seat and sighed. Hopefully, this car would last long enough for her to find a decent alternative.
She double checked the gas and it was still almost filled up. She also looked through the windows and she saw a haphazard one-car wide passage along the road.
Her lips twitched, knowing it was going to be a very rough ride moving forward.
In any case, now that transportation was settled, she proceeded on figuring out the rest of the issues. For instance, she started to disguise herself again, lest she get gang raped by ugly but powerful men.
She only had one hoodie and a mask this time though. How was she supposed to know she’d end up outside the island?
Mentally, she began to prepare herself psychologically for what she would face: Ugly Disgusting Zombies, and the very real possibility of turning into them.
Zombies had to get their heads severed, and there were Crystals in their hearts. Every zombie had one, but density and size varied and early versions were basically useless because of their sizes no larger than a booger.
She turned her head to the zombies inside the car, walking to them, pondering how to do this. But, no matter how gross, she’d have to do it eventually, might as well begin early.
Good thing she stocked up on both hot and cold weapons in her space. She also trained in the sword, though it wasn’t much. The three of them also watched a LOT of gory and zombie films during the past few weeks on the island, preparing them mentally for the disgusting things they could be seeing.
She also had her magic, but she decided not to use it unless needed. At this point, the zombies were still weak and there was no need to waste abilities that required semen to recharge.
Anyway, it was time for her to practice weilding this thing.
Slash!
She looked at the ultra small crystals on her hand, washing it with her ability, revealing the crystalline stone resting on her palm.
It was really the size of a booger. The legends didn’t lie. She shrugged and placed it in the space, forgetting all about it.
Her head turned to the empty driver’s seat and sighed, realizing what the next step would be.
But the thing was: She really, really, didn’t want to drive.
If she could, she’d prefer to sashay on foot and use her powers to behead all that went against her.
Unfortunately, even if the effect of men on her ability increased exponentially and that she didn’t have to depend on men everytime she wanted to do a trick, she still wasn’t so powerful.
Not to mention, this force wasn’t exactly magic. She couldn’t do her normal tricks like flying or anything non-elemental.
Khalifa looked around the window and realized it was the suburbs. It made sense, if it was a city, she estimated there would be no clear road she could pass through at all.
She moved to the driver’s seat and revved up the engine. She held onto the stick and pressed on the gas to start driving. She gulped as the car moved forward, and her hands rested tightly on the steering wheel.
Creeekkkkk—
Her eyes twitched, ignoring the screeching sound of metal scratching metal and pushed through.
She struggled to get past the cars, pushing a few smaller cars out of the way, and it wasn’t a surprise for the engine to give out after an hour.
The sound of an engine’s pitiful death was relatively loud, attracting the zombies around. "Damn," She said, looking around at the increasing number of zombies surrounding the car. She stood up on the seat to access the car’s window roof.
She heaved a deep breath and went through it, to study where she could go next. Ignoring the zombies near her feet, she looked around where she ended up.
She was in villa area of sorts—the exclusive kind. Based on the road here, it was possible she was going to be taken here in the first place.
If that was so, then she must’ve been close to the woman’s ’torture chamber’ when the apocalypse happened.
She shrugged as she continued to peruse what she could see. There was no need to feel angry; she wasn’t the one with a beheaded head.
Khalifa’s movements paused when her sights ended up on a large modern-design house. Her eyes stayed on a large car several feet taller than the cars adjacent to it, its high well-protected chassis seemingly heaven-sent to reckless drivers like her.
Is that.. a monster truck?
