Chapter 157: Lightning Element
Chapter 157: Lightning Element
His eyebrows rose as his peripheral vision captured a small spark. However, it was so instantaneous that it didn’t take much of his attention, considering the more urgent issue outside the car.
"Standby." He told his men, ready to fight if needed.
Kylo went out with his gun, tall and firm, and his team also went on defensive mode right behind him.
Familiar glints of guns reached the attackers’ sights and their hearts skipped beats.
"They all had guns!!"
"How come?"
The aggressive momentum the trap-setters had deflated like a balloon, while a few sneered at them.
"Cowards!" He yelled. He was pegged to be the co-leader of this team and he felt ashamed that his men were so intimidated just at the sight of other people.
They obviously had guns as well!!
Nevertheless, it became a stalemate as everyone knew there would be a shootout if one party shot.
It was around this time that someone with sharper eyes looked at Kylo and his companions more closely.
It was the tallest man with a bit of a thin body, and he paled as a realization dawned on him.
He immediately walked over the leaders to whisper, with great urgency. "His form! He’s definitely a soldier or a veteran at least!"
"What?" The leader yelled, unconsciously raising his voice in shock. "Soldiers??"
The others in the team looked visibly scared, dampening the momentum even more.
Kylo’s eyes narrowed at the tall man. Although he was a bit thin, he was muscular and had a trained stand.
Immediately, Kylo knew it was a veteran. Or, more likely, based on what he was doing now, it was likely someone dismissed due to questionable behavior.
Kylo was correct at this, and this person—Faus—was dismissed for taking bribes.
Specifically, he granted unauthorized access to a few drinking buddies and sold military equipment for a good price.
A lot of their current weapons, in fact, came from this practice.
Faus guardedly pointed the gun at Kylo, belatedly seeing the red dots of snipers all directed to them. Each of them had at least one laser dot on the head.
"Shit!!"
How many people are there?
They were using a few trucks, but most were SUVs.
Considering the number of potential guns, these were probably all soldiers! What were they doing going around in civilian cars and clothes?!
Kylo got a bit closer and Faus saw his gun and made an approximate of its model. It confirmed his thought: This guy used to be a soldier.
Faus didn’t know whether to run or attack now. However, he still had enough brains and loosened his gun visibly before speaking.
"We will not shoot." He told them, angular jaw tense in fear, "You can go."
Faus then repeated, for good measure. "We won’t steal from you anymore. Leave."
Kylo paused with thought and pondered what to do.
On one hand, just going was indeed the quickest and safest path. However, letting them loose would cause damage in the future, which was against their creed.
At the same time, attacking now would lead to a shootout. Even if they were superior in skills and guns, it would be inevitable to injure or even lose a few good soldiers.
They had already lost too much, especially due to this disaster.
Not to mention, there was no way he would let the familiar scum go. Just imagining them touching Khalifa made his blood boil.
The imagery of what could have happened if he had taken a different path or went there at a different time made him feel a bit insane.
He didn’t answer Faus immediately and turned to the two in question.
The two had long recognized Kylo and were shakily pointing their guns at him. They had always wanted revenge against this bastard!!
Not only the physical pain he caused them, but the utter humiliation! He beat them up on all their most sensitive spots—especially their groins!
Both of them… could no longer harden now! He turned them into eunuchs!!
The tense atmosphere remained stagnant for a while.
"I can count a dozen of you, four with guns. Old models." Kylo said, "Our team has over twenty members, each armed with several guns."
"I’m sure you understand you don’t have the upper hand."
Faus’ lips pursed and he nodded at his burly companion. "Take down your guns and we can talk."
"You as well."
At the same time, everyone put their guns back. Not to the ground, but still accessible need be.
Faus paused, looking down reluctantly at his gun in surrender. "What do you want? I’m sure the government doesn’t care about guys like us anymore?"
"Indeed," Kylo agreed. The resources were now too limited to imprison people. "However, to prevent you causing too much trouble when we leave, we will need to confiscate your guns."
And he pointed at the two, "And those two."
The two’s eyes turned red and they—knowing they would have a horrible end if left with this bastard—yelled "GO TO HELL!!!"
Getting back their guns, they immediately aimed to shoot. Unfortunately for them, the snipers were faster and hit their hands, making them unable to take it.
The two looked at each other and bolted out, dashing far as if their life depended on it.
Kylo’s cerulean eyes watched all their movements with sharpness. He didn’t want these scum walking but he wanted to stop them.
He didn’t want to shoot either, as that would trigger a shootout—seeing as the thieves already took up their guns—instead.
Unknowingly, even before he lifted his gun, he felt an electric shock throughout his body.
He felt a large current run through his hand, manifesting outside as sparks.
And it didn’t hurt.
His eyes widened a little, not knowing what to make of the newfound power.
But he recalled Khalifa’s ability, and how she mentioned a ’friend’ activated fire.
His brain immediately worked and he threw the bolts to the gangster’s directions. It was lighting—and it dealt damage many times faster than any of the guns possibly could.
"GYA!!"
The yells naturally made the other gangsters raise their weapons, but the soldiers raised theirs. "FREEZE!"
They took advantage of the enemy’s shock to place sniper targets on them, taking down their guns.
At this time, a larger current appeared between his hands and his team tried very hard to focus on the enemy—who was already extremely pale with the show of power.
"Lightning ability!" Chris whispered in shock and Kylo turned his head a little.
"You know?"
He nodded, but… he knew that these wouldn’t appear at least until a month later!
It was still much more powerful than how he remembered Ryo’s power was when he activated his!
What… was going on?!
