Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse

Chapter 133: Heroine

Chapter 133: Heroine

Khalifa’s unique colored eyes watched as the group struggled but fought bravely.

Counting the people, there were over a hundred civilians (mostly students and teachers). This was not including the handful that had just died.

And there were also about thirty soldiers, a small team protecting everyone else.

She could also see her beautiful PE teacher all bloodied inside the car, trying to see what was happening outside with a very worried look on her face.

She manifested several ice picks floating around her, guarding, ready to attack.

Subtly, she hit a few ice picks on zombies that were about to eat someone up.

Then again. And again… and again.

So… for the next few minutes that she was watching from afar, the number of people who were lost was zero.

Though they didn’t notice this yet.

Claire gripped on her pipe, bravely fighting a zombie. Even if she was scared, she fought with all her might anyway. It put her hiding classmates in shame.

Bang! Clap! Bang!

Although she had rough movements, her hits were determined and were steadily improving.

Seeing such a small pretty girl have so much spirit gathered admiration from the soldiers. Even their stoic captain was no exception.

Speaking of, he was relatively close to the students and fighting alongside them.

So he was quick to react when he saw the girl about to get nicked.

He quickly grabbed her shoulder, beheading a zombie.

She looked up, realizing she had just been saved, "Thank you…"

Ryo’s eyes warmed a little.

Mira frowned and fought harder, also garnering a lot of admiration.

With their leadership, the students also began to fight harder. Anyway, those who had survived after so many days had killed a few zombies already.

It was just that being rescued by soldiers made them regress to being dependent again for a while.

"Are you alright?" Both Mira and Laura went to Claire, face filled with concern.

During their days trapped in the school, the three of them had reignited their friendship.

Claire smiled and looked at her friends, her sights staying a bit longer on Mira.

Although her instincts were telling her something wasn’t right with Mira, nobody was perfect after all. Friends were supposed to accept the other’s shortcomings.

They also felt guilty for only finding out about her accident when she had already checked herself out of the hospital.

What kind of friends were they? Bad ones.

Anyway, she and Laura felt extremely bad and were a lot more patient with Mira the past couple of days.

The apocalypse had come. Suddenly, their little drama didn’t seem to mean much anymore.

Most importantly, Mira had saved them many times with her ’predictions’, how could they be ungrateful?

"I’m fine, thank you." She said, gripping her weapon tighter. "Be careful!"

The two nodded holding their own weapons, ready to fight.

Claire gathered herself and continued to slam what she could.

She needed to see her parents. And she wondered how Chris was…

If he had left a day later, they would’ve been together! It seemed Khalifa told them not to be too far away from each other?

She should’ve pushed for his stay!

The annoyance of being separated from her lover was translated to her hits.

She was grimy and sweaty but even to Ryo, it was a pretty sight.

Claire, Mira, and the others resumed fighting bravely alongside the soldiers, inspiring the momentum in their small group of students and teachers.

They were rescued by the soldiers just earlier that day, with the students amounting to nearly a hundred students.

This was a lot. A lot more than Mira’s dreams, anyway, and many of these students owed their lives to both Mira and Claire.

Claire saved them various times with her first aid and alertness, while Mira let them avoid various tragedies using her foreshadowings.

For example, Mira knew where there were many monsters, which they then avoided, as well as good places to hide.

That was the reason why so many of them survived, long enough to encounter a rescue team passing by.

They were now heading to the nearest safe bases with the soldiers, except that their neighborhood was along the way so Claire and a few others begged for a small detour to see their families.

However, they underestimated the number of zombies their number would attract.

Hence the current state of struggling.

Roarr!!!

A zombie roared nearby her, and she instinctively raised her hand to hit it.

Bang!

As it hit, she quickly recognized the person. This zombie was their companion—a classmate—an hour ago and Claire couldn’t help but want to cry.

On cue, a cry sounded beside her. "It’s Hannah…" sobs. "If only I was able to protect you…

Another female sounded as she hid behind the boys. "Poor Hannah. It’s not your fault Mina…" Followed by a pause, giving Claire a furtive glance, before screaming at a zombie that almost bit her.

"I’m sorry…" Claire couldn’t help but whisper. If she didn’t push on this path, maybe…

"No, any other path wouldn’t have been any easier." A new voice sounded, shutting up the murmurs.

She turned and saw that, surprisingly, it was the handsome soldier.

He then continued to shoot and slice zombies if they came nearby, still with an unchanging expression on his face.

Claire nodded, indeed feeling a little bit better, quickly joining him in the fight.

He was quite dashing, shooting one zombie, before turning and slashing another with his cold weapon. Claire couldn’t help but take a second look.

It was only a look of appreciation though, as in the back of her mind she was wondering if her parents and Chris were able to protect themselves well.

Their movements soon become synced, with Ryo occasionally protecting her as she made her attacks.

Together, they made for a pretty sight amongst the gruesomeness.

Khalifa frowned though, looking at the pair with dissatisfied eyes.

Jacob looked at her pouting from his side and smirked. So cute.

She did not take notice of this however, as she was really a little annoyed.

Again, she asked, what about her couple ship?!
