Chapter 135 - 135 Crash again
?Chapter 135: Crash again Chapter 135: Crash again The next day, the stock market opened.
Brown’s share price fell by three percent at the bidding stage. By the time formal trading began, within less than thirty minutes, it had plummeted directly from three percent to limit down, with close to ten million sell orders.
All the shareholders were once again flabbergasted. Such a sharp drop was completely beyond their expectations. In the history of the group’s share price, such a slump was rare, except during times of major financial crisis.
That day, Terry Garcia and Clara Brown went to the police station to visit Audrey Scott, who was in custody.
Compared to her usual self at the office, Audrey now, without her exquisite makeup and with her haggard face, looked every bit like a sixty-year-old woman.
Seeing her mother in this state, Audrey’s eyes widened like pupils.
“Mom, how are you?” In Clara’s memories, her mother and father were absent during the most important moments of her personal growth. Since their reunion, her mother had been extremely kind to both her and her child.
Audrey looked at the two of them, her exterior calm.
“Why the tears? I’m not dead yet.”
Despite her words, Clara couldn’t stop the tears, “I just feel bad. You must be suffering here.”
“It will be fine once we get out.” She cheerfully consoled Clara, a form of self-comfort as well.
Then, she looked at Terry Garcia and sharply asked, “How’s Brown doing?”
Terry didn’t hide anything, responding truthfully, “Following the news, the stock price hit the limit down two days in a row.”
“Have you figured out a solution?”
He replied, “The current plan is to make everyone stand together, insist that the major shareholders do not reduce their holdings. We will release this news before the market opens tomorrow, presenting a positive image to the public, hoping to stabilize the stock price.”
After listening, Audrey nodded in agreement, then added two points, “We must think of a way to dig up some positive news as well, use some of the capital for share repurchases to further stabilize the confidence of investors.”
Hearing this, Terry immediately responded, “Yes, your analysis is logical, I will return and hold a meeting to implement these actions.”
Then, he looked at Audrey again, hesitating to speak.
“Go ahead, what else is there?” Audrey asked.
Terry struggled for a moment, then said, “As you know, a large portion of the company’s cash has been tied up in a new project that we invested in. Now, to free up capital to stabilize the stock price, we might be a bit hard-pressed.”
Regarding this new project, Audrey naturally knew – it was her decision after all.
Terry was essentially asking for her to fund it.
While Audrey was not pleased with this, she also knew that the situation was serious. Besides, even if she didn’t contribute now, should things take a turn for the worse in the future…
“Your father’s card has a sum of cash in it, about a hundred million. The password is Clara’s birthday. Take it first. But the stocks bought back must be under Clara’s name.”
Hearing this, Clara was both happy and upset at the same time. She never expected her mother to care for her so deeply.
Terry, however, kept his expression steady and honestly replied, “Rest assured, Mom, I will follow your directions.”
“Good, you can go now. I want to speak alone with Clara for a moment.”
Upon hearing this, without any hesitation, Terry offered a few comforting words, promising that he would find a way to secure her release. Then, he turned and left, waiting for his wife Clara outside.
“Mom, why can’t you say what you want in front of him?”
In Clara’s mind, she and Terry were one entity, therefore, she harbored no suspicion towards him. However, Audrey felt differently.
