?Chapter 710: Chapter 711: Courage (3)_1 Chapter 710: Chapter 711: Courage (3)_1 Liang Chen held his chopsticks, instinctively wanting to refuse. After pondering for a while, he lowered his eyelids but did not voice any objection.

After the New Year’s Eve dinner, Liang Chen went upstairs to play cards with his cousins.

Liang Chen’s mother, however, pulled his father into the bedroom. She was a bit nervous as she said, “Liang Zhoutian, don’t you think there’s something strange about our son?”

Liang Zhoutian casually sat down on the sofa, grabbing an evening newspaper. He glanced at his wife as he asked, “What’s strange?” while reading.

“It’s like this… every time I urge him to find a girlfriend, he either ignores me or uses Jing Haohao as an excuse. But this time, when I suggested he go on a blind date, he didn’t refuse.”

Liang Zhoutian didn’t find this unusual. He continued reading the newspaper without pause and stated, “I’ve said it before, time heals all wounds. Chen was fixated on that girl, but now almost a year has passed.”

“Is that so?” Liang Chen’s mother furrowed her brow in doubt, pacing around the room, racking her brains to find a flaw in his son’s behavior.

Liang Zhoutian was starting to feel dizzy from his wife’s pacing. He put down his newspaper and said, “Look, here’s the thing… you were in a rush when Chen didn’t want a girlfriend, now he doesn’t refuse, and you’re still worried. Besides, he didn’t refuse to meet the girls you chose, but whether he’ll actually go is still up in the air. Stop worrying unnecessarily; it wouldn’t be surprising if he eventually stands them up like before.”

“How dare he!” Liang Chen’s mother raised her eyebrows in reprimand, and then nodded, saying, “You’re right, I need to keep a closer eye on Chen these days.”

However, when the day came for Liang Chen’s mother to introduce him to the girl she had selected, he was already waiting downstairs, presentable and well-dressed, early in the morning.

There was not the slightest hint of evasion or refusal.

Liang Chen’s mother’s heart filled with mixed feelings of joy and anxiety. Even as they made their way to the reserved private room at the Four Seasons Hotel, she still thought she must be hallucinating.

The girl her mother had chosen for him was perfect in every aspect—education, looks, and background.

She was the daughter of a close college friend of his parents in America, named Su Yan.

She was a quiet and reserved lady.

Fortunately, he was a man of few words too.

So, during the meeting, it was mainly their mothers who chatted.

After roughly two hours of dinner, Liang Chen and Su Yan exchanged phone numbers.

On the drive home, Liang Chen’s mother kept scrutinizing him, trying to read something from his expression. Eventually, she gave up and bluntly asked, “Chen, what do you think of Su Yan?”

Liang Chen stared straight ahead, not responding.

Liang Chen’s mother said, “If you don’t think she’s the right one, that’s okay. I have a few more options. Let me know when you have time, and I can arrange another meeting.”

Liang Chen blinked lightly as if he hadn’t heard his mother’s words.

After a moment of silence, Liang Chen’s mother once again broke the silence, “Chen, is there something bothering you recently?”
