?Chapter 704: Chapter 705: Goodbye (2)_1 Chapter 704: Chapter 705: Goodbye (2)_1 Jing Haohao ran off the overpass, stood by the roadside and hailed a taxi. She clumsily climbed in, and instantly felt drained and weak.
Once Jing Haohao got home, her heart was still racing. She sat on the couch for a while before getting up and taking a bath. By the time she came out, it was already dark outside. With no appetite, she crawled into bed, curled herself into a small ball under the covers thinking that it would offer her some kind of comfort.
Jing Haohao lay there for a long time without feeling the slightest bit tired; it was only around eleven o’clock at night that she changed her position.
Ever since she broke up with him, she often had insomnia. Now, with wide eyes, she just stared at the wall, lost in thought.
After who knew how much time, suddenly her phone rang.
Ever since they broke up, she seldom received calls at night. Jing Haohao thought she was hallucinating and after a moment, she realized that it was her phone that was really ringing. She picked up the phone and saw that it was Liang Chen’s number, she was stunned for a moment before she answered the call. When she didn’t hear Liang Chen’s voice on the other end, she said, “Hello?”
There was still no response from Liang Chen. Through the phone, though, Jing Haohao faintly heard some chaotic noises as well as a sentimental song playing in the background. She continued with another “Hello?” and asked, “Liang Chen?”
Still, no one responded. But through the phone, she heard what sounded like Liang Chen throwing up.
Jing Haohao’s heart suddenly shot up into her throat, and just as she was about to ask Liang Chen what was wrong, the call was abruptly ended.
Jing Haohao stared blankly at her phone for a while, listening to the dial tone. She lay back onto her bed feeling extremely uneasy. After tossing and turning for a while, she couldn’t resist the urge to call Liang Chen back.
The phone rang several times before someone picked up.
Jing Haohao asked, “Liang Chen, you called me. Is there anything wrong?”
“May I ask if this is Miss Jing Haohao?” came a strange voice from the other end of the phone.
Jing Haohao instinctively glanced at the phone’s screen to make sure she had dialed Liang Chen’s number correctly, then cautiously asked, “May I know who this is?”
“I’m the manager of Golden Era. Mr. Liang got drunk here. If you are a friend of Mr. Liang, can you come to take care of him now?”
…
Jing Haohao hung up the phone, picked up her clothes without hesitation, got dressed, and then hurriedly left the building with her wallet and phone in hand.
It was late at night, and with the Spring Festival approaching, finding a taxi was particularly difficult.
The snow had stopped, but the temperature had dropped significantly. Just as Jing Haohao was about to freeze standing by the side of the road, she finally spotted an empty taxi.
…
The manager of the Golden Era had already given the room number to Jing Haohao. After getting out of the taxi and paying, she walked into the lobby, asked the receptionist for directions, and hurried towards the room.
…
When Jing Haohao pushed open the door to the private room, she was met with dim lighting, overwhelming music, and a room filled with a pungent smell of smoke.
