?Chapter 693: Chapter 694 Regret (6)_1 Chapter 693: Chapter 694 Regret (6)_1 She clicked on Liang Chen’s name and stared at it for a few seconds. Suddenly, she heard again the words he had said to her on the day he left: “Haohao, I really wish you were a girl without a past.”

Jing Haohao’s fingertips lightly trembled but she couldn’t bring herself to press the screen; instead, she tossed her phone onto the couch.

It may have seemed that her conflict with Liang Chen was due to Shen Liangnian, but in reality, that incident on that day was just a catalyst, which made her realize that perhaps, she would never understand what Liang Chen truly thought.

She knew that to outsiders, she could never match up to Liang Chen, and she also understood that the Liang family scrutinized her in the hope that Liang Chen would not marry such an ordinary woman like her.

She always thought that as long as Liang Chen was kind to her, everything would be fine. She could never have anticipated that he, deep down, would mind about her too.

She always thought that love was about mutual affection, that there was no such thing as suitability as long as there is love. But now, Jing Haohao started to wonder herself, whether she and Liang Chen were suitable for each other or not?

He was so lofty; perhaps she could never stand shoulder to shoulder with him, no matter how hard she tried all her life.

Moreover, he had not sought her out since the day he left…

The more she thought about it, the more it felt like everything was over.

Jing Haohao reached out for the cushion next to her, hugging it in her arms, staring blankly at an empty spot, not moving.

Only after a long while did she remember that she still had Liang Chen’s bank card and he still had her house keys and bank card.

She could change her lock. As for the bank card, there was no money left in it. She could open a new account at the bank.

But his card was different; it had so much money on it. It wasn’t right for her to keep his money.

Jing Haohao lowered her eyelids, thought for a while, wanted to give Liang Chen a call, ask him when he was free so she could give back the bank card. But picking up the phone, just the thought of facing him and handing him the bank card, of saying goodbye, she couldn’t muster the courage to make the call.

She remembered that Liang Chen once left Miss Su’s number at her place. So, Jing Haohao decided to call Miss Su.

It was a weekend. Miss Su might have been out. Before she could hear Miss Su’s voice on the line, Jing Haohao was greeted by deafening music. After a couple of minutes, the other end of the line finally quieted down. Miss Su’s pleasant voice came through: “Miss Jing, what can I do for you?”

Jing Haohao paused before saying, “Are you free any day soon? I’d like to meet with you.”

Miss Su was perplexed about why Jing Haohao wanted to meet her. She had no idea about the argument between Jing Haohao and Liang Chen, so she politely replied: “I might be free next Friday. I’m on leave now and not in Jiangshan City.”

Jing Haohao thought that another few days wouldn’t make a difference, so she nodded and replied: “Okay, let’s talk when you’re back in Jiangshan City next week.”

With Liang Chen no longer in her life, Jing Haohao returned to the monotonous daily routine of 9 to 5 work she had when she first returned from England to Jiangshan City.

On Friday night, her department had a gathering. In the past, Jing Haohao would always turn down such events because she had a date with Liang Chen.
