Jing Haohao didn’t speak, she was holding Liang Chen’s hand which had a thin layer of sweat. She stared straight ahead, and after a long silence, finally said, “A while ago, I had a surgery at the hospital.”
Liang Chen’s heart surged, he slowed his pace, a hint of barely perceptible anxiety in his tone, “Haohao, are you feeling unwell? Why didn’t you call and tell me? Where do you feel uncomfortable?”
Listening to Liang Chen’s anxious tone, Jing Haohao couldn’t help but break into a smile. The physical and emotional pain she endured the day she had her birth control removal fell away in an instant, replaced by the sweetness brought on by his concern. Liang Chen felt a slight sense of disappointment. His response carried a hint of dejection, “Oh.”
After speaking, Liang Chen felt he might have made his feelings too apparent, so after a few seconds, he added, “Having that thing for too long really isn’t good for your health. It’s good that you removed it.”
“Mhmm,” Jing Haohao responded. Neither of them said anything after that.
After walking a few steps, Jing Haohao glanced at Liang Chen beside her and seeing the look of defeat on his face, she couldn’t help but laugh.
