Right after Liang Chen entered the hotel and dropped off his luggage, he called a meeting with the senior executives of the Shanghai branch in his hotel room.
The content of the meeting was somewhat dry, with the majority of it being updates on the current state of the branch.
Liang Chen sat in front of the hotel’s floor-to-ceiling windows, watching the couples strolling hand-in-hand on the street below. In the past, he might have thought it was in poor taste for men to walk down the street holding their girlfriend’s hands. But now, if Jing Haohao would agree to hold his hand, he would be more than willing to engage in such tasteless acts.
“Mr. Liang, would you approve if we handle the plan this way?”
Liang Chen snapped to attention, shifting his gaze from the window. The main contact for the Shanghai branch had been droning on about something but he hadn’t heard a single word. But he kept his face emotionless and simply nodded, then turned to the next person to report.
After only hearing a couple sentences, Liang Chen’s mind was filled with the intimate moments he had shared with Jing Haohao the night before. The corners of his mouth involuntarily curled up into a smile. He couldn’t help but wonder what Jing Haohao was doing in Jiangshan City.
By the time Liang Chen realized he was daydreaming again, he lightly lifted his hand and touched his forehead – this is ridiculous… They had only been apart for a few hours yet he was finding it hard to stay in Shanghai.
Liang Chen forced himself to focus and threw himself into the meeting again. But when he accidentally lifted his arm and felt something hard in his pocket. Unconsciously, he reached in to find two lollipops, prompting a soft chuckle. He picked up his phone on the table and quickly texted Jing Haohao: “I’ve arrived”.
Jing Haohao’s reply came quickly. They chatted for a few messages and he thought about the two lollipops in his pocket, he sent another message to Jing Haohao: “I bought you a gift”.
“What gift?”
Seeing the expectant emoji at the end of Jing Haohao’s message, Liang Chen was reminded of her shining eyes staring back at him in anticipation. His gaze softened involuntarily. He took out the two lollipops from his pocket, laid them in his palm, and quietly took a photo with his phone, and sent it to Jing Haohao.

Jing Haohao stared at the picture. In Liang Chen’s hand were two lollipops. Her eyes widened in surprise, then she pouted and replied: “I am not a little girl, why would you buy me lollipops, hmph.”

Liang Chen was startled, and the lollipops he was holding rolled onto the floor.

The assistant quickly stooped down, picked up the lollipops, and placed them in front of Liang Chen.
