?Chapter 591: Chapter 592: Heart-to-Heart (21)_1 Chapter 591: Chapter 592: Heart-to-Heart (21)_1 Liang Chen looked at Jing Haohao, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes, as if he found it unbelievable.
His silence left Jing Haohao a little uneasy. She fiddled with the contract in her hand and added, “I know that you’re very busy every day, so just call me when you find the time.”
Had he heard right? She had actually invited him to dinner…
Just moments ago, he was wondering when they would meet next…
Liang Chen suppressed his joy, trying to display a facade of calm. Yet, his voice betrayed his inner excitement, “Alright.”
“Then, I’m getting off now.” Jing Haohao gestured towards the car door.
Liang Chen simply nodded, his grip on the steering wheel tightened in joy.
Jing Haohao hesitated for a moment in the car. To her surprise, she found herself reluctant to leave. She chastised herself for this thought and swiftly swung the car door open.
As she closed the door, Jing Haohao said a quick “Goodbye” to Liang Chen inside the car.
Liang Chen nodded gently. His gaze remained locked on Jing Haohao as he replied in a soft voice, “Goodbye.”
Jing Haohao clung to the car door for a second, lost in a moment’s daze as she looked at Liang Chen. Then, she closed the door and walked into the residential complex.
Liang Chen remained in the car, waiting until Jing Haohao’s figure disappeared from sight before he started the car and drove off.
…
…
Since Mr. Suzuki had amended the contract, Haixin Company suffered no financial loss. This issue concerning the contract blunder was smoothly resolved as such.
Jing Haohao continued working in the company. Due to the incident, Mr. Chen’s secretary deliberately kept distance from her, no longer pushing all the work onto her as before. In an ironic turn of events, Jing Haohao found her days lighter with less workload.
She promised to take Liang Chen out to dinner and he agreed. During the initial days, Jing Haohao simply thought Liang Chen was busy and didn’t think much of it. But as three days passed with no call from him, she couldn’t help but get lost in her thoughts while at work.
Could it be that Liang Chen had forgotten her invitation?
Jing Haohao’s phone was set to vibrate and placed on her desk. It hadn’t vibrated all day, but she still found herself checking it now and then.
By the time she got off work, her phone hadn’t made a single sound. Jing Haohao felt a small sense of unexplained disappointment.
She picked up her bag and slowly descended the stairs. She boarded the bus and went home.
In the evening, Jing Haohao had barely any appetite. After casually eating a bowl of noodles, she went to bed early.
It was still relatively early, so Jing Haohao turned on the television and began to watch a show.
She was watching a humorous variety show. The host was witty, successfully making the audience burst into fits of laughter. However, Jing Haohao couldn’t find it in her to laugh, feeling like there was void inside her.
The room was very quiet. The laughter from the television filled the room. Against this backdrop, Jing Haohao felt an increasing weight in her chest. Deciding against it, she turned off the television and slid into bed, preparing to go to sleep.
Just when she had closed her eyes to sleep, she seemed to remember something. Digging through her bag, she found her phone, changed the settings from vibrate to ringtone, and placed it next to her pillow.
