?Chapter 574: Chapter 575: Heart-to-Heart (4)_1 Chapter 574: Chapter 575: Heart-to-Heart (4)_1 After disembarking from the plane, Jing Haohao began to feel a pang of regret.
She hadn’t expected that the temperature in Japan would be much lower than in Jiangshan City. Despite wearing a long skirt and coat, she could not stop shivering from the cold.
She hailed a taxi and headed straight for Tokyo, where she checked into a hotel. Jing Haohao then used the hotel’s landline to place a call to the person in charge of the Japanese company mentioned in the contract.
The phone rang several times before finally being picked up. The atmosphere on the other end of the line was quiet, with a lilting Japanese tune playing softly in the background.
Jing Haohao couldn’t speak Japanese, therefore she continued in Chinese, “Hello, I’m looking for Mr. Suzuki.”
“May I know who is calling?” The person on the other end spoke in Chinese, though his intonation was a bit unstable.
“I am a representative from Haixin Group in Jiangshan City. I would like to meet with Mr. Suzuki,” she mentioned.
“Please hold on for a moment.” The line went quiet for quite some time before a voice came through at last: “May I know where you are located? Mr. Suzuki has asked me to send someone to pick you up.”
Jing Haohao provided the name of her hotel.
…
Half an hour later after she hung up, the hotel’s phone rang. Mr. Suzuki’s envoy had arrived.
Jing Haohao quickly checked her reflection in the mirror to ensure her appearance was presentable, then picked up her bag and went downstairs.
A solemn, middle-aged Japanese man came to pick Jing Haohao up. He was a man of few words and rarely smiled, but his Chinese was impeccable.
…
After driving for a while, the car stopped in front of a rather charming building.
The driver parked the vehicle and opened the door for her, “Miss Jing, we’ve arrived.”
“Thank you.” Jing Haohao got out of the car and surveyed her surroundings, which were elegantly comfortable.
“This way, please.”
The driver led Jing Haohao inside, along a somewhat winding path, turning left and right through several long corridors before finally opening a door.
The room was vast with a large gambling table situated in the middle. It was surrounded by people, while on the stage in front of it, a few beautiful women dressed in formal Japanese kimonos were striking up an enchantingly old-fashioned tune.
No one was distracted by Jing Haohao’s entrance; they continued with their gambling.
The driver indicated to Jing Haohao to stand aside and wait. He then walked up to a man seated at the head of the gambling table and whispered something into his ear. The man glanced at Jing Haohao, his gaze was sharp, but quickly returned to his card game.
The driver rejoined Jing Haohao and murmured, “Miss Jing, please wait a little longer.”
Jing Haohao nodded slightly and then the driver slipped into the background.
About half an hour later, Mr. Suzuki got up from the gambling table while the others continued their heated game.
Mr. Suzuki was quite thin and looked to be nearly fifty. Dressed in a light grey suit, he exuded a somewhat sinister air.
Without a word to Jing Haohao, Mr. Suzuki crossed to a neighboring couch and took a seat, surveying Jing Haohao from head to toe.
There was a ferocity in his eyes, akin to a predatory animal, that sent a shiver up Jing Haohao’s spine.
Jing Haohao found herself instinctively stepping back, as if the distance could make her a little safer.
Watching Jing Haohao’s reaction, Mr. Suzuki cracked a small smile and began to speak, “Miss Jing, welcome to Japan.”
“Hello, Mr. Suzuki.” Jing Haohao responded with a tentative smile, carefully choosing her words, “I am here as a representative of Haixin Company and I would like to discuss the contract with you.”
