Chapter 566 - 566 567 Asking for Help (6)_1
?Chapter 566: Chapter 567: Asking for Help (6)_1 Chapter 566: Chapter 567: Asking for Help (6)_1 It was a collaboration project with Japan, the contract of which was handed over by Mr. Chen’s secretary to Jing Haohao, who was in charge of filling in the amount and then printing it out.
At ten o’clock in the morning, Mr. Chen, accompanied by the company’s senior executives, officially signed the contract with the Japanese clients in the conference room.
Through the glass window, Jing Haohao could see Mr. Chen’s beaming face, brimming with joy.
In the afternoon, Mr. Chen took the Japanese clients for a meal at the Four Seasons Hotel and didn’t return until three-thirty. Due to signing such a massive contract, he was in high spirits and had consumed a substantial amount of alcohol, causing him to sway slightly as he walked.
Upon the completion of the project, Jing Haohao found herself with some leisure time. She sat at her desk, started her computer, and began browsing the news online.
At four o’clock, the finance manager rushed in and asked, “Where is Mr. Chen?”
“Mr. Chen is inside,” Mr. Chen’s secretary answered, standing up to walk towards the office before gently knocking on the door: “Mr. Chen?”
There was no reply, so Mr.Chen’s secretary pushed open the door to find Mr. Chen leaning against his chair with his eyes closed, seemingly asleep.
The secretary gently closed the door and turned to the finance manager, saying, “Mr. Chen drank a bit too much at noon and is now asleep. If there’s something urgent, I can pass on the message when he wakes up.”
“What are we waiting for? A major problem has occurred!” The finance manager retorted anxiously before heading up to Mr. Chen’s office, pushing open the door, and walking straight in without even bothering to close the door. “Mr. Chen, there’s a problem with the contract we signed with Japan this morning.”
Mr. Chen woke up groggily, and with confusion in his eyes, he looked at the anxious finance manager and said, “Calm down and tell me what’s the problem.”
As he spoke, Mr. Chen stood up, took a sip of water, and slowly sat back down.
“This morning, our contract with Japan stipulated a payment of one million, but the contract amount was written as ten million.”
The leisurely look on Mr. Chen’s face disappeared in an instant: “Are you sure you didn’t misread it?”
“I’m sure,” the finance manager placed the contract on Chen’s desk. “I’ve checked it several times, we’ve definitely added an extra zero.”
With a loud crash, Mr. Chen immediately threw his glass to the ground. The alcohol had mostly worn off at this point. He swiftly walked out of the office, and turning to his secretary, he couldn’t help but explode: “Who was in charge of the contract we signed with Japan this morning?”
Because the door was left open, everyone outside could clearly hear what was being discussed inside.
Upon hearing Mr. Chen’s words, his secretary quickly stood up and said softly: “I was in charge.”
“How did you mess this up? Can’t you tell the difference between one million and ten million? Did you not learn math in elementary school?” Mr. Chen angrily slammed the contract on his secretary’s desk, and in his rage, he paced back and forth: “Do you even have a brain? Do you realize the extent of the problem you’ve caused for the company?”
Mr. Chen’s secretary shrank back as he berated her. She quickly picked up the contract and after confirming that the amount was indeed ten million, she checked her email and found that the amount Mr. Chen had emailed her was one million.
Her face instantly turned pale. She furrowed her brows and thought carefully. She realized that she had handed the contract directly to Jing Haohao to handle. When Haohao asked her the exact amount, she glanced at the email Mr. Chen had sent her, counted the digits, and casually replied “ten million”.
