Like a first encounter, her voice was soft and her eyes, calm.
Liang Chen stared at Jing Haohao’s composed demeanor, attempting to find any hint of difference in her eyes. Yet, despite his long gaze, all he saw was the quiet tranquility in her beautiful eyes, as if all the past events he couldn’t forget between them had never happened.
His muscles involuntarily tensed, and he could distinctly feel his heart skip a beat, followed by a dull pain.
Liang Chen quickly composed himself, suppressing the rolling pain and emotions within. He locked his gaze on Jing Haohao’s eyes, casually raised his hand in greeting, and responded in a purely professional tone, “Hello, Miss Jing.”
Jing Haohao lowered her eyes, studying Liang Chen’s reach, hesitated a beat, and then extended her hand to meet his.
Although it was a brief touch, Liang Chen still felt the familiar softness of her hand. Yet, the coldness made him frown.
Doctor Zhang had told him that she has a cold body, her hands and feet icy cold. Sometimes at night, when holding her unintentionally, he encounters her cold hand. He had instructed Nanny Lin with various recipes for improving her condition, and only after a long period did her hand eventually warm. Yet within a few months, she had returned to her old state.
Quickly, Liang Chen retraced his thoughts, his gaze blandly settling on the woman nearby. He swallowed his impulse to pull her into his arms and hug her fiercely. He maintained the facade of indifference, and, like a stranger, commented to the surrounding people, “Everyone is here, let’s call the waiter to start serving.”
At the time when Liang Chen and Jing Haohao were getting married, the news only circulated among their close friends. Even though they had intentionally kept it low key, some rumors had leaked. Yet no one knew who Mr. Liang’s wife actually was. After the wedding plans were dropped, everyone merely assumed it was a rumor.
Jing Haohao was naturally beautiful, and when Mr. Chen brought her in, she attracted attention. Now, those people merely regarded Liang Chen’s attention towards her as appreciation for beauty, and didn’t think too much about it.

Someone must have ordered the banquet menu in advance because as they seated, waiters walked in bearing various types of dishes, filling up the entire table.
All attendees were there for Mr. Liang’s partnership deal hence everyone was full of effusive praise for him.
Liang Chen simply sat in his seat quietly, appearing distancing and indifferent. Despite not revealing much emotion, he still managed to radiate a distinctive aura of authority and nobility amongst the crowd of extraordinary people.
He seemed to mingle easily and naturally with the surrounding crowd, handling the social niceties with practiced ease. However, his gaze constantly drifted towards Jing Haohao.
Jing Haohao, however, didn’t spare a glance towards Liang Chen and devoted her attention solely to the plate of food before her, seated beside Mr. Chen.
