Liang Chen rolled down his car window, gazed at Jing Haohao’s retreating figure, and called out, “Haohao.”

Jing Haohao halted and turned her head to look at Liang Chen.

Liang Chen stared into her eyes for a good while before he softly spoke, “If you don’t want to call me, you can also find Nanny Lin, she will have everything prepared for you.”

Jing Haohao’s demeanor slightly faltered. Liang Chen smiled at her and said, “Go on.”

Clutching the lunch box, Jing Haohao stood still, stunned for a while before she turned around and entered the hotel.

Liang Chen sat in the car, watched as Jing Haohao’s figure vanished from his sight and was motionless for a good while. He then closed the car window, swallowed the stale air brought in by the whistling cold wind, slowly started the car and left.

Perhaps because he had just seen Jing Haohao, Liang Chen didn’t feel particularly upset. But as he drove halfway, he suddenly felt uneasy.

Just as he once thought, staying in a state of longing but refraining from seeing each other could still be bearable. But once they met, the longing would become unbearable.

Liang Chen really wanted to just drive back to the hotel where Jing Haohao was staying and bring her back to Jiangshan City with him. However, he had promised himself that forcing her to return to him with their video call screenshot would be his last disregard for her wishes.

She loved acting in TV dramas, and wanted to live near the Film and Television City. Therefore, he couldn’t take her away.

The car was zooming fast on the night road. The further away he was from the Film and Television City, the more intense the longing he felt.

By the time he returned to the villa, it was almost ten o’clock at night. Dining alone in the spacious dining room, eating the pre-prepared thermally insulated food cooked by Nanny Lin, he felt a lump in his heart.

After a hasty meal, he headed straight upstairs to the bed he and Jing Haohao had shared for many days. Gazing at the ceiling, the longing became more overwhelming.

Tossing and turning until three o’clock in the morning, Liang Chen couldn’t stand it anymore. He got up from the bed, paced back and forth in the bedroom numerous times, checking everything in it. He then went downstairs, woke up the sleeping Nanny Lin, and asked, “Did she take warm clothes when she left?”

It was now almost summer and there was no need for heavy coats. Nanny Lin shook her head.

Liang Chen furrowed his eyebrows, looking displeased. “What if the temperature drops suddenly and she catches a cold? Remember to pack a few coats for her in the morning. I’ll take them to her.”

Having said that, Liang Chen shut the bedroom door with a slam, went back to the bed. Thinking about having a new excuse to see Jing Haohao the next day, he miraculously felt calm. In no time, he had fallen soundly asleep.

The next day, at three o’clock in the afternoon as usual, Liang Chen left the company, drove to the Film and Television City, and delivered a coat and food box to Jing Haohao.

Barely two minutes after leaving Film and Television City, Liang Chen began to rack his brains thinking about an excuse to see Jing Haohao the next day.

It was like a cycle, repeating day after day.

At the beginning, it was quite easy to come up with good excuses. But after going back and forth five or six times, Liang Chen started to run out of convincing excuses. So much so that he frequently zoned out at work, pondering what he could take to see Jing Haohao.
