?Chapter 441: Chapter 442: Cold War (4)_1 Chapter 441: Chapter 442: Cold War (4)_1 The villa still looked just like before, only now the flowers by the fence had bloomed, and the fountain in the yard continuously spouted water, looking a lot livelier than in winter.
Nanny Lin received the news early and was waiting at the front door. Seeing the car pull in, she greeted them with a warm smile and opened the car door herself: “Miss Jing, finally you’re back. How could you leave without a word? Do you know how worried I’ve been these past days?”
Nanny Lin held Jing Haohao’s hand, sizing her up: “Look at you, you’ve lost weight. I have to fatten you up in the coming days.”
Jing Haohao gave Nanny Lin a gentle smile. She really liked Nanny Lin and, having not seen her for a long time, had some heartfelt words to share.
“It’s windy outside, let’s talk inside.” Liang Chen was standing on the side, watching the two nattering on continuously, he couldn’t help but remind them.
The smile had been beaming on Jing Haohao’s face while chatting with Nanny Lin and upon hearing Liang Chen’s words, it vanished in an instant. She slowly raised her head, glanced at Liang Chen and silently walked into the villa.
Inside the house, everything remained unchanged from before she left. Jing Haohao had eaten on the plane and wasn’t hungry, so she went straight upstairs.
The bedroom had been exchanged for summer bedding and curtains, all of which were in plain colors, selected by her.
Jing Haohao stood at the bedroom door, looking at the room that was more than familiar to her.
She knew every inch of the room quite well. When she had been confined there, she had spent countless hours wandering around the room, step by step, to pass the time.
Even now, she still remembered that she could walk thirty-seven steps from east to west, forty-one steps from south to north and sixty-three steps diagonally.
Thinking of this, Jing Haohao swallowed hard, clenched her fists tightly, and stepped inside.
By the time Liang Chen came upstairs from downstairs, Jing Haohao was sitting on the bed, lost in thought. Hearing his footsteps, she quickly jumped into the bed, didn’t even change her clothes, just pulled back the covers and crawled in.
The moment she settled in, the bedroom door was pushed open, and Liang Chen walked in holding a cup of milk, he said to Jing Haohao, “You must be tired from the long trip today, drinking a cup of milk will help your sleep.”
Jing Haohao’s eyelashes trembled slightly, then silently she burrowed her head into the covers, feigning deep sleep.
Liang Chen’s entire body tensed up. He was staring at Jing Haohao on the bed, who was obviously not asleep, but pretending to be. His hand holding the milk cup involuntarily clenched a little harder.
After a long while, he finally turned around and walked out of the bedroom.
Jing Haohao could hear his footsteps receding, slowly open her eyes and stared at the open door. Her eyes fluttered twice before closing slightly.
After an unknown amount of time, just when Jing Haohao was about to fall asleep, she vaguely heard the door close. Then, she could feel the blanket being lifted off her body.
Her consciousness jolted awake abruptly. Thinking that Liang Chen was going to do something with her, her body tensed up instinctively. With her eyes tightly closed, she prepared herself.
However, there was no heavy weight pressing down on her. Instead, her hand was gently taken by Liang Chen.
