?Chapter 327: Chapter 328: Strike (4)_1 Chapter 327: Chapter 328: Strike (4)_1 Everyone stood up with smiles spreading across their faces when they saw Liang Chen walk in, warmly greeting him.
With Jing Haohao in his arms, Liang Chen also engaged in friendly conversation with everyone. Eventually, someone unable to hold back their curiosity asked him, “Chen, aren’t you going to introduce us to the beautiful lady you brought along?”
It was then that Liang Chen slightly nudged Jing Haohao forward, and introduced her, “This is Jing Haohao.”
“Nice to meet you, Miss Jing.” Liang Chen’s words had barely fell before someone extended a hand to shake Jing Haohao’s.
“Back off, with that face of yours, you’re scaring the lady.” Someone shouted, before putting aside the hand stretched out towards Jing Haohao, stepping forward, and stating, “Miss Jing, how do you do?”
Before Jing Haohao could extend her hand, Liang Chen pulled her into his arms and said to everyone, “Alright, all of you back off. She’s a bit shy and not very tolerant of such tomfoolery.”
With that, Liang Chen, still holding Jing Haohao close, moved to sit down on a nearby sofa.
Liang Chen’s friends were quite the company to keep. The topics they discussed were far beyond the average person. Talking about who bought a yacht for several billions in Hainan recently, who spent tens of billions just to support an unknown starlet, and who had wedding gifts made entirely of pure gold.
All these topics sounded fantastical to the average person, but they spoke about them as casually and ordinarily as discussing daily chores.
After a while, the door opened, and Cong Rong walked in with a tall and beautiful lady. As they settled down, someone asked, “Cong Rong, didn’t you say you’d be coming over with Shen Liangnian? Why did you only come by yourself? Where is he?”
Cong Rong picked up a glass of wine from the table, took a sip, and said, “Liangnian is feeling a bit under the weather tonight, he chose not to come.”
“Feeling under the weather? What is he playing at? Isn’t he getting married next month? I was waiting for him to come so I could get him drunk. I’ll give him a call to check on him.” The man took out his phone and thumbed in a number. After a moment he swore, “He’s even turned off his damn phone!”
Those gathered were close friends who enjoyed chatting, singing, dancing during get-togethers, and even set up a mahjong table.
Cong Rong’s table was one short, so they called Liang Chen over.
Men had gathered for a game of mahjong, while the women, realizing it was not their place to disturb, sat together, gossiping away.
Most of Liang Chen’s friends were not married and their companions were either dates or current girlfriends. Every one of them was a beauty. Sitting nearby, Jing Haohao recognized a few famous celebrities and the lead female anchor from Jiangshan City TV Station among them.
Women’s conversations usually revolved around comparison and boasting, subtly indicating the expensive gifts their men had given them.
Jing Haohao found that she couldn’t contribute much to these conversations, so she sat quietly throughout, just listening.
The woman Cong Rong had brought along noticed Jing Haohao’s silence and couldn’t help but turn to her with a sweet smile, “Miss Jing, I really enjoyed your drama. I thought you were beautiful on TV, but seeing you in person, you’re even more stunning.”
