Chapter 313 - 313 314 Smile (4)_1
?Chapter 313: Chapter 314: Smile (4)_1 Chapter 313: Chapter 314: Smile (4)_1 Qiao Wennuan faced a sea of flashing cameras, calm and collected, without any hesitation, she said, “This is not a publicity stunt, I’m getting married for real. My husband-to-be is the founder of Tianrong Company, Mr. Shen Liangnian.”
Nanny Lin subconsciously turned towards Jing Haohao.
The woman didn’t react much to the news, maintaining the same composed demeanor she had moments before.
Nevertheless, Nanny Lin quickly switched off the TV and stood up. “Miss Jing, it’s getting late, you should eat,” she said.
For once, Jing Haohao didn’t refuse, she stood up and followed Nanny Lin to the dining room.
As Nanny Lin served Jing Haohao, she peeked at her nervously. But Jing Haohao was like a tranquil sea, seemingly oblivious to the news. She ate her meal at a leisurely pace. Once she finished, she stood up and, in her usual manner, told Nanny Lin, “I am going upstairs to rest now.”
Jing Haohao turned around and ambled out of the dining room and up the stairs. After she stepped into her bedroom, she only then, blinked and slowly processed the news of Shen Liangnian’s upcoming marriage with Qiao Wennuan.
People are strange that way; knowing that they have already become strangers, knowing that it’s impossible to go back to the past, knowing that they should forget and move on, yet when they hear news about the other person, their hearts start to waver uncontrollably.
In just six months, Jing Haohao had never anticipated the drastic change in her relationship with Shen Liangnian. The man she genuinely wanted to marry is now marrying another woman. The man who had once promised that if he fails her, heaven would punish him, is now in the arms of another woman. Just like this, they went their separate ways.
Jing Haohao nestled in a wicker chair on the balcony, eying the mountains which were bathed in the resplendent sunlight. There were still some patches of snow which hadn’t melted, a white so intense that it hurt the eye.
Jing Haohao thought, she shouldn’t be in this much pain as she knew about Shen Liangnian and Qiao Wennuan being together. But still, a slight twinge seeped from her heart. Not like the bone-aching pain she felt when they were forced to part ways earlier nor like the heart-wrenching pain she felt when she came to know about Shen Liangnian and Qiao Wennuan sharing a bed.
She had never imagined that her relationship with Shen Liangnian would meet such an end.
Thinking about the ten years of her pouring her heart and soul into their relationship, Jing Haohao couldn’t help but feel an inexplicable pang of melancholy.
…
After having lunch, Liang Chen found an excuse and hurriedly left the old house to return to the villa. Nanny Lin was changing fresh flowers in the living room’s vase. Seeing him come in, she immediately stopped her work and greeted respectfully, “Mr. Chen.”
Liang Chen nodded his head and was about to head upstairs when Nanny Lin spoke again, “Mr. Chen, today Miss Jing came downstairs and watched TV with me for a while.”
Liang Chen paused.
Nanny Lin continued, “Miss Jing saw the news of Mr. Shen and Miss Qiao’s marriage. But, she seemed normal. She went upstairs to her room and has not come out since.”
Liang Chen looked upstairs, grunted, and walked upstairs without any further comment.
Pushing open the bedroom door, Liang Chen went straight towards the balcony. He found Jing Haohao staring out of the window, her mind seemingly a million miles away.
