Shen Liangnian raised his head and looked at Qiao Wennuan’s smiling face. Suddenly, eight words came to mind. She’s as beautiful as a flower, but has a heart as cold as a viper’s.
His expression turned cold.
It seemed that Qiao Wennuan had gotten used to Shen Liangnian’s silence. She put down the shopping bag in her hand, saying, “I just bought you some change of clothes and toiletries from the supermarket. The bathroom is over there, you can go freshen up.”

Qiao Wennuan gave him a soft smile and then exited the room.
Shen Liangnian sat on the bed for a while before finally getting up. He opened the shopping bag that Qiao Wennuan had brought and looked at the clothes and toothbrush inside. He frowned, then silently picked up the items and entered the bathroom.
After washing and cleaning himself, Shen Liangnian put on the casual wear that Qiao Wennuan bought and left the bathroom. He saw Qiao Wennuan in the open kitchen, bustling around.
He didn’t say anything and just leaned against the wall of the bathroom, watching Qiao Wennuan chop vegetables and make porridge.
Maybe she was used to being pampered and had never done these chores before. When chopping the vegetables, She accidentally cut her finger. She gasped and put the injured finger in her mouth, then continued to chop cautiously.
Shen Liangnian didn’t say anything nor showed any intention of helping.
Once the food was ready, Qiao Wennuan turned around and saw Shen Liangnian standing not far away. A radiant smile immediately spread across her face. “Liangnian, come and eat.”
Shen Liangnian stared at Qiao Wennuan’s face for a while before walking over.
As attentive as a thoughtful wife, Qiao Wennuan pulled the dining chair out for him. After he sat down, she busily served him porridge and said, “Liangnian, you cannot drink like that, you have a weak stomach. If you drink that much, your body can’t take it. Please drink some porridge.”
Shen Liangnian looked at the steaming bowl of vegetable porridge in front of him. After a while, he managed a faint smile, nodded, picked up the spoon and started eating.

The cut on her finger from the knife still hurt, but she thought, it was all worth it.
Without making a sound, Shen Liangnian finished his bowl of porridge. He looked up and saw Qiao Wennuan watching him, her eyes welling up with tears.
Shen Liangnian looked away, handed the bowl to Qiao Wennuan, and asked, “Is there more?”
“Yes, yes.” Qiao Wennuan had not expected Shen Liangnian to want a second serving. Overcome with excitement, she repeatedly said ‘yes’, and then took the bowl from him to serve him another bowl of porridge.
