?Chapter 266: Chapter 267 Who is Your Backing? (2)_1 Chapter 266: Chapter 267 Who is Your Backing? (2)_1 Even after a while, she would stare at the night sky outside the window every night, dreaming about the day she could transform into a star, or even a meteor. Even in its fleeting fall, there was a moment of freedom.
She truly believed that she would likely spend her entire life alone in this luxurious cage, yet now Liang Chen had surprisingly agreed to let her go to the troupe to act.
How could Jing Haohao not feel overwhelmed with this favor?
The sudden taste of freedom lifted Jing Haohao’s spirits instantly. When Nanny Lin brought her lunch, she surprisingly ate more than half of it.
When Nanny Lin came to collect the dishes, seeing the bowl of rice completely eaten, she was so thrilled as if something extraordinarily happy had happened. She hurriedly went downstairs with the dishes in hand and eagerly dialed Liang Chen right away.
Hearing this, Liang Chen’s repressed mood instantly unraveled, and he seemed particularly spirited while working for the rest of the afternoon.
…
At night, when Liang Chen returned to the villa, it was already ten o’clock. As soon as he opened the door of the bedroom, he saw Jing Haohao sitting properly on the sofa, reading the script.
Upon hearing him, she merely lifted her head to glance at him. Perhaps because she was in a good mood, she even waved at him, before eagerly burying her head back into the script.
Liang Chen undressed and took a bath. When he came out, he saw Jing Haohao still engrossed with the script. Instead of interrupting her, he lay on the bed, opened his laptop and started dealing with some affairs.
Time ticked away, and before he knew it, it was eleven o’clock. Liang Chen was extremely sleepy, having not slept well the night before. He closed his laptop, glanced at Jing Haohao, then couldn’t take his eyes off her.
He never knew that a focused Jing Haohao could be so charming. Her hair was tousled as she looked seriously at the script in her hand, her lips moving as if she was memorizing lines. Different expressions would appear on her face time and again, likely the emotions she needed to portray in her acting the next day.
Whenever Jing Haohao was in front of him, she always wore one of a few expressions – pitifully dull, scared, shocked, or indifferent. Now, her face was animated – at times laughing, surprised, wronged, or coquettish. He was utterly fascinated by her, his sleepiness forgotten.
After an indeterminate amount of time, Liang Chen’s phone buzzed a low battery warning. While plugging it in, he glanced at the time – it was already one in the morning. He then got out of bed and walked over to Jing Haohao. “It’s one o’clock, hurry up and go to bed.”
Jing Haohao greedily glanced at the script before lifting her head, looking pitifully at Liang Chen. She held up one finger and said, “Just a little bit more, I’m almost done reading.”
Barely resisting her pitiful look, he leaned down and picked her up. “Read tomorrow. You’ve been reading for hours, your eyes must be tired.”
Without saying another word, he carried Jing Haohao to the bed, securing her tightly in his arms, urging her to sleep.
That night, miraculously, Jing Haohao didn’t wake up halfway through the night, nor did she try to get away from his hug. She slept till dawn.
