Perhaps it was meeting Jing Haohao during the day that caused Liang Chen to be somewhat unfocused. After returning to the company and attending a meeting in the afternoon, he appeared to be absent-minded.

The weather this day was not good, the snow from the previous days had not completely melted away. The footprints left from pedestrians made the snow appear grimy. Liang Chen sat by the window in the conference room, head lowered, watching the people on the street below. Unconsciously, an image of Jing Haohao emerged in his mind.

Then he painted a picture: when she was shopping alone, was she like those people, joyfully eating an ice cream tirelessly in the harsh winter? Or was she like some others, rubbing her face from time to time because it was cold?

Because the heating was on in the conference room, the temperature was a bit high. The humidity in the room condensed into droplets on the glass, gradually blocking Liang Chen’s view. He raised his hand, softly touching the glass, then, without realizing it himself, he slowly wrote two characters on the glass: “Haohao”.

Haohao… A good name for a girl.

Just like her, a good girl.

“Mr. Liang? Mr. Liang?”

An unexpected voice interrupted Liang Chen’s thoughts. He carelessly turned his head and uttered a soft “Hmm?”

Then he saw that the entire room was looking at him. He furrowed his eyebrows and looked at his assistant beside him.

His assistant immediately repeated the content of the meeting.

“Mr. Liang, this is the situation. We have almost secured all the land in the southern part of the city, except for one household that refuses to close the deal.”

Without showing any emotions, Liang Chen inquired, “What are their demands?”

“They are demanding twice the compensation compared to others.”

Liang Chen frowned, thought about the new project he planned to start, was silent for a moment, and then continued, “Give them twice the compensation and acquire that land as soon as possible.”

With Liang Chen’s orders, everyone moved on to the next topic of the meeting. Liang Chen listened attentively for a while, then his attention seemed to drift again. When he heard someone call him, without thinking, he blurted out two words: “Haohao.”

Everyone in the room exchanged glances, feeling that something was off about the big boss today.

However, Liang Chen’s face had no change of expression, he calmly said, “Let’s conclude today’s meeting here.”

After a pause, he asked his assistant beside him, “What else do I have scheduled next?”

“You have a dinner party at eight-thirty tonight.”

“Alright, let’s leave at eight.” Having said that, Liang Chen got up and walked out of the meeting room.

Returning to his office, Liang Chen, appearing slightly fatigued, sat down on the sofa and pinched the bridge of his nose.

What was wrong with him today? Why did he keep thinking about that woman?

Could it be because he went home today and saw her once?

Liang Chen let out a long sigh, suddenly recalling a saying which seemed to perfectly capture his mood at the moment: Seeing you once has made me yearn for you.

The dinner party that night was hosted by someone from the planning committee and featured a Manchurian-Han banquet.

After eating a diet rich in seafood and meat every day, it’s hard not to be satiated. Liang Chen didn’t eat much and wasn’t in a good mood, so he didn’t talk much. When someone toasted him, he never refused, drinking all the alcohol in one go.
