?Chapter 258: Chapter 259: Dislike (4)_1 Chapter 258: Chapter 259: Dislike (4)_1 His lips were trembling violently, and after what seemed like a long while, he managed to utter a sentence: “Qiao Wennuan, do you know how close I was? So close to flying away with Jing Haohao. And yet you’ve done this. Qiao Wennuan, you…”
Shen Liangnian’s voice started trailing off. He seemed to lose all his strength all of a sudden, his grip on Qiao Wennuan’s hands loosening, his body staggering back a few steps before collapsing despondently onto the ground. “Qiao Wennuan, do you even understand… I can’t live without Haohao.”
“I can’t… without Haohao…” Shen Liangnian repeated, with tears rolling off the corners of his eyes.
Raising his hand, he covered his face, his body shaking uncontrollably.
Qiao Wennuan felt dizzy from Shen Liangnian’s rough handling. It took her a while to regain her composure. Looking at Shen Liangnian, face covered and sitting opposite her, crying his heart out, she also started shedding tears. She mustered enough strength to get up and almost managed to hug him when he made a swift move to evade her touch and stand up.
Qiao Wennuan fell to the ground unexpectedly. Looking up at Shen Liangnian, she saw him staring back at her, his eyes bloodshot, his voice hoarse: “Qiao Wennuan, I’ll never forgive you.”
After those words were said, Shen Liangnian grabbed his coat and left without looking back.
It was late into the night when Shen Liangnian finally stepped out of Qiao Wennuan’s apartment building. The wind blew sharply against his face, and as he raised his hands, he felt his face wet with tears.
Casually wiping the tears away with his hands, Shen Liangnian gazed at the snow-covered world and found everything around him to be bleak.
The world is so vast, yet I met you.
The world is so small, yet I lost you.
…
Liang Chen left and did not return to the villa for a week.
Jing Haohao, although reluctantly, had agreed to live in this villa only for Shen Liangnian. Now that Shen Liangnian was with another woman, she couldn’t figure out the significance of her staying there.
Liang Chen’s instructions to bar her from leaving the villa was carried out faithfully by the servants. Jing Haohao could feel the careful scrutiny of the servants every time she stepped out of her bedroom.
The stares made her feel like a criminal, so she decided not to even leave the second floor.
There were days when she was confined to this villa where she would dress up in fancy clothes, finding solace in pretending to be free. But now, she didn’t bother changing clothes, spending her days either in her bedroom or her studio.
Many times, when Nanny Lin brought her food, she saw Jing Haohao seated perfectly in front of the TV, laughing as if she was engrossed in some show. But when Nanny Lin placed the food in front of her reminding her to eat, she wouldn’t react.
Eventually, Jing Haohao stopped watching TV altogether. She would just hole up in her room either sleeping or staring blankly into space, her food intake dwindling every day.
