“Haohao, I’ll wait for you. If you don’t come out, I’ll wait for you forever.”
Jing Haohao felt a pang in her heart. She feared that Shen Liangnian might just wait forever. So, she softly said, “Liangnian, go back to the hospital now. If you’re not well, you should stop wandering around.”
“Haohao, I need to see you.” Shen Liangnian insisted obstinately on his idea.
“Liangnian, I’m not home, I’m out, I have something to do, can we talk later, alright…?”
“Jing Haohao, when are you going to stop lying to me?” Shen Liangnian abruptly yelled, interrupting Jing Haohao. He took a few deep, ragged breaths, “Haohao, earlier you told me you weren’t feeling well and went out. You were lying to me then, and you’re still lying to me now.”
Shen Liangnian paused, and through the phone, Jing Haohao could hear his deep breath. “Haohao, I’m standing outside Liang Chen’s villa.”
Jing Haohao, startled by those words, nearly dropped her phone on the floor.
She knew Liangnian was aware that she was with Liang Chen, but when he showed up at Liang Chen’s doorstep ready to see her walk out, her heart trembled.
Jing Haohao tried hard to control herself. She moved her lips but only managed to squeeze out after a while, “Liangnian, I won’t come out, and I won’t meet you. You should leave.”
“What do you mean? You won’t see me? Are you breaking up with me? Is that why you returned the ring to me?”
Jing Haohao never knew that the usually mild Shen Liangnian, when pushed, could be this aggressive.
She could even imagine Shen Liangnian all worked up and angry.
Jing Haohao never thought she could be so cruel to Shen Liangnian.
She quietly listened to Shen Liangnian’s intense questioning, until at last, Shen Liangnian resolutely spoke, “Haohao, even if you want to break up with me, I need to hear it from you in person. If you don’t come out, I won’t leave!”
Just as Jing Haohao was about to reply, her phone was snatched from her hand.
Jing Haohao was startled and turned to see Liang Chen holding her phone, a look of displeasure on his face. He put the phone to his ear and coldly told Shen Liangnian without any emotion, “She won’t come down. Leave now, before I lose my temper!”
Without giving Shen Liangnian any chance to speak, Liang Chen hung up the phone. As if that wasn’t enough, he turned off the phone, then looked up at Jing Haohao and said, “Nanny Lin just came by. She said breakfast is ready, hurry up and get ready. Let’s eat.”
After saying that, Liang Chen tossed the phone onto the nearby couch and left the room.
