?Chapter 145: Chapter 144 Observer (Second Update)_1 Chapter 145: Chapter 144 Observer (Second Update)_1 “Hmm.” Mu Lin nodded, but didn’t understand why Jing Chen suddenly wanted to discuss this with her. The mission didn’t seem anything out of the ordinary for him.

“This task is very dangerous.” That’s why, before leaving, he wanted to see her one more time.

“So?” Mu Lin was confused, “Do you mean you want me to go with you?” To Mu Lin, danger implied the need for a military doctor.

No other way to put it, it seemed that Mu Lin was often a beat slower than Jing Chen. The sight of them only exacerbated the anxiety of the three people who still hadn’t fallen asleep on the bed.

For crying out loud, what were the two of them up to? They spoke so slowly, pausing in the middle of sentences.

Upon hearing Mu Lin’s words, Jing Chen shook his head, “No, you’re not ready.” He couldn’t put her in danger; although Mu Lin was skilled, even surpassing anyone under his command, her strength still needed further training. Now was not the time to involve her.

No way!

Hearing this, Mu Lin’s brow twitched instinctively. Didn’t he realize that telling someone ‘no way’ was not to be done lightly! Even though she was not a man.

Ultimately, her response remained unchanged: “Oh.”

“I’m leaving now,” said Jing Chen as he got up. Mu Lin nodded, “Hmm.” After a pause, she added, “Be careful.”

“Alright.” A glint appeared in Jing Chen’s eyes and the corners of his mouth curled slightly upwards, “I will.” No matter what, he would be
even more cautious, as he never wanted to live in a world where he couldn’t see her.

For the first time, such a thought had crossed Jing Chen’s mind.

Watching Jing Chen’s retreating figure, an inexplicable worry flashed across Mu Lin’s mind. No matter how many times she replayed their meeting in her mind, she always wondered whether things might have ended differently if she had been with him. But no clear answer ever came to her.

During Jing Chen’s mission, she was nothing more than an outsider. Not knowing the exact circumstances they faced, all she could do was guess.

Once Jing Chen had left, Mu Lin lay down in her bed. Just as she closed her eyes, she heard Yue Qiao’s calm voice, “You’re worried about him, aren’t you?” It was as if she could feel it.

“He doesn’t need my concern.” was Mu Lin’s indifferent reply.

“Perhaps.” Yue Qiao’s lips curled slightly into a smile. Many a time , it is the one who stands on the side sees clearly. There was an indescribable sort of emotion between Mu Lin and him; palpable yet unspeakable. But they each seemed oblivious to it. Not that she didn’t want to clue them in. But Yue Qiao felt that it might be better for Mu Lin to figure it out on her own.

It would be a special kind of realization.

Perhaps even if she said something, Mu Lin wouldn’t really care, thought Yue Qiao.

It was just her nature.

The next day, the crew gathered and Jing Chen was already gone. Nonetheless, he didn’t forget to arrange for Mu Lin’s leave with Ling Qi. Much to his surprise, Ling Qi easily agreed, yet in the end, it was Mu Lin herself who declined.

She needed to proceed with her training.

Finding no other alternative, Ling Qi agreed on the condition that she could only keep watch during the training exercises, without participating in any of them. To this, Mu Lin did not object and found a place to sit down and meditate.

She would never compromise her health. After all, health is the most valuable asset. As a doctor, Mu Lin understood this better than anyone.
