Chapter 126: Forcing a battle
Chapter 126: Forcing a battle
"Hm? What happened to him?" Outside the faystone mansion, a group of individuals squinted their brows in confusion at the scene infront of them.
Right now, a young man was being dragged out of the hall by a group of royal guards as his kicked and screamed.
He looked like whatever had just happened was the biggest injustice in history and he wouldn’t take it laying down.
Oh how the faystone bloodline had fallen.

The door to the mansion opened and individuals made their way into the hall where a pale faced Leon could be seen seated at the helm.
"Hm?" Upon noticing their arrival, Leon’s face morphed the look of paleness to a sudden blood filled countenance. As if nothing had happened.
"Are you okay?" The first person to inquire about the situation was a vailed lady with a faceless mask underneath her vail. She sounded concern.
"Hehe, no, no, nothing serious" leon smirked and said.
Actually something did happen. He and Alvin had just "fought" if you’d call that fighting.
At the beginning it was a fair exchange of blows....just the normal hot blooded combat, until Leon decided to let Alvin hit him.
Immediately Leon threw a tantrum and called the guards attention. There he accused Alvin of trying to assassinate him when they left.
Naturally, the guards believed Leon...Alvin had been acting too erratic of late, it wasn’t hard to join two and two together. So they arrested him and took him to the faystone dungeon to ’cool down’.
Just like that, Leon had gotten rid of the faystone family’s true heir. He basically made the whole world belief that he was mad.
"Ohh, okay. Where’s old man Half-moon?" Understanding that maybe this was none of their business, jade threw the matter to the back of her mind.
"Ah? I don’t know. Busy with his daughter I guess?" Leon shrugged his shoulders as if it didn’t really matter to him what the old man got up to.
"Hmmm, but we are here to present the talents to him" Jade tried to explain.
To sort the matter with the faceless mercenary company’s hostile take over, the three factions had decided to have a battle of talents.
Yes a competition to determine who was fit to run the faceless mercenary company. Whomsoever had groomed the most talents over the years would come out ontop.
"Ehhhhh, I don’t know what to tell you, I really don’t know where he is. Though you could present them either way. There’s no difference" Leon suggested.

Not surprisingly, his words caused the people around to frown with utmost annoyance. Leon wanted them to perform infront of him as if he was the leader.
This was a massive insult because amongst them were level 3 mages of the beginner to middle stages. Even if Half-moon was nowhere to be found, they would helm this faction instead of Leon.
"Do it, don’t do it. It’s up to you" Leon showed no interest at all....he didn’t asked them to come, what he was doing was what the great mage had tasked him with.
"Peak of level 2, Yagaran." Jade called out forcing them to present.
Only she and a few others knew truly how important Leon was to this mission. Leon had single-handedly convinced Half-moon to work with them after all that happened....and without Half-moon there was no other peak level 3 mage in the vertan faction.
Not to talk about the fact that Leon currently had in his disposal..another peak level 3 magic user.
The faystone ancestor.
It wasn’t too far fetched to say Leon was the leader of this course forgetting about his personal strength.
"Hmm" as Jade said those words a well-built man the size of a bear stepped forward. He was shirtless and had long luscious hair reaching down to his shoulders.....he kind of looked like a barbarian.
"Hm? A magic user that primarily focuses on his physical strength? Interesting" Leon commented while staring at the young man with his head laid back.
Most mages had to train their body to engage in combat at least...however they didn’t need to as even though minuscule, their breakthroughs held in this too. So to meet someone who went above and beyond to become this jacked was rare.
And mostly stupid I’m Leon’s opinion.
You’re a mage embrace it, there was no need to emulate any other race.
;not Leon being hypocritical
Most people thought Leon was like this guy, but in truth, he was just a warlock. Advanced physical strength was a gift.
"Earth work: boulders of destruction"
Opposite the young man named Yagaran a scrawny youth with clearly lacking mana pressure. It seemed like he was a new peak level 1 mage.
Leon didn’t know what to think of this situation. Was it nepotism? Even at the threat of destruction? What kind of situation was that?
He didn’t know and there was nothing he could do...
—Boom!!!!
—Boom
—Boom
After a few exchanges, the young man named Yagaran won in a land slide. There was no underdog situation here, the weaker one lost.
(Was there even a need for a level 1 fight?)
Leon thought in his mind. In his mind the only fight that would matter when it really came down to it was the peak level 3 battle.
"Next" Jade called forth the next fighters.
This time it was the peak fighters....level 2 mages.
"Hmm, I don’t know that one" Leon mused. Naturally he didn’t know every mage in the faceless mercenary company. But one so young? Wouldn’t this guy be termed ’honored’ like Leon if he was a level 2 mage at this age?
"Oh damn, it’s him?" After staring at the new fighter for a while Leon seemed to remember something.
(Ghost face?)
Leon was shocked. The young man before him was ghost face....he looked completely different no longer did he put on his pitch-black robes on nor did he have a aura desolate as before.
He had been delivered from being an edgelord.
"Hmm" with a calm look on his face ghost looked at Leon with the side of his eyes. He could remember the sensation of Leon’s fist strike his face till his mask and face were mangled.
But for some reason, he didn’t hate Leon as much as Leon dispised him. He was truly at peace with the outcome of their previous battle....and whatever was to come in future.
"Begin!!" Jade barked and almost immediately.
—Boom!!!!
Ghost face dashed forward with a sonic boom immediately striking at his opponent.
—Boom!!!
—Boom!!!
Ghost face’s fighting style had completely changed. He no longer focus remaining silent. In fact it seemed like he was trying to be as loud as humanly possible.
—dung
—voom
With this method....ghost face became fast, really fast.
"Wow that’s surprising" Leon’s eyes widened looking at the way ghost face moved. It was explosive....at some point it even seemed like he was flying.
—bang
—bang
Just as the fight began, it ended. Ghost face’s opponent didn’t even seem like competition.
(Yeah, somethings strange about that kid. What did he do?)
Leon couldn’t wrap his head around how ghost face’s fighting style and general demeanour changed in such a shirt span of time.
But then again.....what did it have to do with him?
"Next fight" Jade muttered then with the side of her eyes called forth an individual...this was something Leon’s was very familiar with...but before the guy could completely step out, he was interrupted.
"Hey!!! Are were skipping the middle stage of level 2?" The blade Demon called out with discontent. The person Jade was just about to call out was a peak level 2 mage.
He and Leon were middle stage fighters. Were they not going to fight? Or was something going on that he wasn’t made aware off?
He really wanted for fight Leon. He didn’t like everything that had been going on for the past few weeks. It looked like Leon was being placed on a pedestal and he didn’t know why this was.
So he wanted to beat Leon. He wanted all the attention that was going to Leon to be focused on him.
And for that to happen he must first humiliate him in a match.
"The person representing us for that realm is already decided." Jade said with a glumly expression on her face.
This blade Demon was being s nuisance. He had talent so what? Was his ego higher than the greater good or was he just a blind fool who didn’t he see that Leon was the key to everything happening.
"Is it him? Don’t you think it unfair to place this guy above everyone here? First you make use perform before him like monkeys....now you advance him without him proving himself? Is that nepotism? Is he secretly related to you?.....does that even matter? We won’t stand for it"
The blade Demon began to rile up the crowd. He wanted to use them against Jade and force her to give him the battle he desired.
