Chapter 168: Electrolyte Imbalance
Chapter 168: Electrolyte Imbalance
The people coming for the mission soon gathered in the square, and there was a tense atmosphere occupying the air.
Everyone was geared up and armed to the teeth, preparing themselves for the inevitable harsh fight ahead.
However, they knew who the leads were. Whether they liked these people or not, their strength was undeniable, and it brought a little peace in the people’s hearts.
Khalifa and her men stood together in a semi-circle, with a lot of people staring at them, though too intimidated to approach.
Well, except for a few brave souls.
"Khalifa! You’re here!"
They turned to where the sound was to see it was Claire and Chris, holding hands as they went in her direction. Claire probably wouldn’t be joining the mission due to her pregnancy and was likely there to see Chris off.
Khalifa smiled at the couple holding hands, finding them very beautiful to look at. Her smile also fascinated most men in the vicinity.
As the couple neared her, Chris almost bowed to Khalifa. He had wanted to, but it would’ve made the other uncomfortable.
"Thank you," he said, "For everything."
Claire blinked, not expecting such solemn gratitude from her lover. "Chris?"
"She’s done more for us than you think," he told her. "Much more."
Claire blinked and nodded, "Yes, she saved us a lot."
Khalifa smiled knowingly and just looked at them, "How are you?"
Claire smiled and patted her stomach. "I’m fine," she said, "I feel a little uncomfortable at times, but I’m happy. Very happy."
"That’s good to hear," she said, with a gentle smile. She looked cool and nonchalant, but internally she was a bit giddy.
To be honest, she felt like the best couple fan ever.

The party of two hundred people—eighty soldiers, a hundred twenty capable civilians—finally ventured off to another dangerous mission.
The Military gave Khalifa’s group their own van, which had maneuverable sides so they could use their abilities as needed.
Using the universal GPS, which fortunately still worked, they headed towards their destination. It was one of the reasons why they were in a rush for these missions, because the remaining satellites would eventually be lost as well.
In fact, Khalifa knew that even her universal phone would also lose its signal. After all, even if some satellites were unmanned and undisrupted, it still needed to be maintained, it would still need some fuel and the like.
The party traveled across the zombie infested streets, guarded and ready to fight at a moment’s notice. Hearing the distant groans of larger zombie mobs echoing in their ears, everyone was tense the entire time.
They tried to avoid as many mobs as they could but, of course, it was impossible. While they managed to avoid the bigger mobs, some fights were still inevitable.
The front team divided into two teams for wheel battles to provide enough rest times between fights.
Khalifa’s team was also divided into two. First batch had Cauis, Kaize, and Jacob. The other had Khalifa and Kylo. And still Jacob, who didn’t have to rest.
Basically, for efficiency, the strategy was either to burn or debilitate the zombies. Then, Jacob would run around and finish them off and take their crystals.
"That guy is amazing. Why aren’t the zombies going after him?"
"It’s… his ability."
"Ohhhh! So we’re not limited to elements then! How cool!"
"Hmm…"
Of course the soldiers and civilians were not idle and they also took the leaks, though some didn’t have the extra help of fire and earth.
About an hour later, it was Khalifa’s and Kylo’s turn. Khalifa doused the zombies and Kylo would electrify them.
Khalifa barely had to use energy when she just did this, so she could basically kill a mob of hundreds without a sweat with this partnership.
This time, not only Jacob but also everyone else fighting had the opportunity to kill zombies easily because of it.
"Amazing!" The people yelled, swiping their respective weapons, eager to get some crystals for themselves.
Because of their efficiency, Khalifa and Kylo decided to extend their turn, killing hundreds more, and reducing their travel time even further.
When their turn was over, both of them were sweating profusely.
Cauis and the others looked at her heartbroken, with the professor wiping her sweat off with a clean napkin he always had for her in his pocket.
Other than this though, she seemed okay.
"Are you alright?" Kaize asked when they saw Khalifa looking swell. They were both relieved and disappointed.
Did she not need semen yet?
Khalifa pinched Kaize’s face, which happened to be nearer and had the most obvious disappointed expression.
How could she not know what they were thinking?
"Go," she said, "Let’s just get this over with."
The three looked at her hotly. They liked it when she was being bossy.
Kaize even chuckled and smiled widely, doing an exaggerated gentleman bow before he left.
"Yes, my Queen~"

She gave all men a simple kiss before she went to the van to rest so at this time, only Kylo and Khalifa were left in the back seat of their van.
"Hmph, jerk," she mumbled as she settled in the back seat.
Except for the driver in the front, only Khalifa and Kylo were left in the car. They were divided from the driver with a partition that could be closed.
Seeing her pout, Kylo chuckled, arranging the misplaced bangs on her hair. "Well, you spoiled us."
It was here that Khalifa looked at Kylo who, unlike her, actually looked pale. She rummaged through some stones from her space.
But she paused as she did so. Was her pile smaller?
And did her space get… bigger?
"Khalifa?"
"Oh," she uttered, pulled out of her daze. She then gave him a handful of stones that came out of nowhere.
Kylo stared at the magic and then to the stones.
"You remember what I taught you?" She asked, "About absorbing stones."
This was technically his first outing since awakening. He hadn’t tried using the stones before, so Khalifa explained as detailed as she could.
He did as he was told and indeed regained some power. She continued to give him stones until he consumed dozens. But he was still pale which baffled her.
She touched his face, very worried.
"What’s going on?" she asked, "Why are you still unwell?"
