Chapter 912 912: None of your business
Despite his vantage point and keen observation skills, Rain couldn't discern Iori's silhouette among the dragons in the water. While he could see the outlines of the dragons submerged underwater, Iori's figure escaped from his sight, shrouded in mystery and obscured from his view.
This prompted Rain to heighten his vigilance, realizing that Iori's stealth or concealment techniques might prove challenging to detect even from a distance.
"I considered that he wouldn't be among them, but…" Rain furrowed his eyebrows. "He will probably join them before the battle starts."
Rain chose to maintain his position, flying stealthily above the ocean's expanse, waiting patiently for any developments or signs of movement among the dragons gathered below. Despite his concealed position, he remained vigilant, keenly observing their actions and interactions.
Notably, the group of dragons apparently talked via Telepathy, a method that Rain assumed since he couldn't detect any physical sound or vibrations emanating from their mouths at the distance he maintained.
This form of mental communication added to the enigmatic aura surrounding these dragons, further distinguishing them from the creatures Rain had encountered a century ago… they didn't even bother talking when the enemies were only humans…
Eventually, night came again and there were no signs of the dragons making any move… At that point in time, Rain considered once again ambushing the dragons alongside the others, but he couldn't fail again… he had to take down Iori once and for all and get the armor.
Fortunately, Rain's patience paid off and soon he realized what the water dragons were planning. As night descended upon the area where Rain observed the group of dragons, an unexpected shift occurred a clear drop in temperature that swiftly caught his attention.
It wasn't a mere natural occurrence, it was evident from the sudden and significant decrease in the surrounding air's warmth, also considering the experiences that Rain had in dealing with the dragons.
Rain swiftly recognized that this abrupt chill wasn't a product of natural phenomena. His attunement to the magical elements within the environment allowed him to discern the surge in mana, almost palpable in the air around him.
The escalating levels of mana were responsible for the plummeting temperatures, indicating the manifestation of some magical influence or spell at work, altering the climate with deliberate intent.
"Are the ice dragons finally join the fight and give up on their pride as well?" Rain thought while looking around.
The area started to get cloudier at night and when morning came, it began to snow as well… still, Rain didn't move from the spot… it was convenient that he could drink water and expel water using his control over water magic, but he couldn't use his magic to expel his shit without going to take a dump.
"It is fine… I can endure this for three days," Rain thought while he was watching the water dragons with his arms crossed.
Seara probably was going to get worried, but she knew that Rain wouldn't change his mind about his plan… it was the best option even in her eyes, after all.
"It is quite something that you can also hide our aura inside your domain," Nigel said. "I can't wait to see more blood of dragons falling like Rain."
"Once you kill that man, will you join this battle?" Larisa asked.
"None of your business," Rain replied. "Don't ask anything about the future, I will make my decisions in the moment."
Rain wasvery aware that Nigel and Larisa had a powerful desire to see the downfall of more dragons, with some hope of all of them. Their motivations weren't solely rooted in the spectacle; rather, it also tied into their own personal agendas. The duo craved more dragon blood, seeing it as a means to not only reclaim lost memories but also to augment their existing powers.
However, Nigel and Larisa hadn't shared the specifics of the memories they'd regained following the previous battle. The omitted details suggested that whatever they'd recalled might not have been deemed significant or relevant enough to mention at that moment, there was also the matter of time.
Their focus seemed to be on the present and the potential for further restoration and empowerment through the acquisition of additional memories and dragon blood.
"Still, I am afraid that you are in a bad spot, Rain," Larisa said. "I am pretty sure that if she wants it, she can make her aura overflow and that will alert the dragons… her aura is that strong."
Rain didn't consider that, but Larisa had a point… the woman in the dark was powerful enough that even could feel her ominous aura through that special box. Perhaps the shadow in the box was only something corrupted by the aura as well… still, her goal was the extermination of the dragons. So, it was unlikely that she would do anything… hopefully.
In any case, during that day, the ocean waters temperature decreased even more and while Rain didn't see the ice dragons flying around, he could tell that they moved their area of activities further north a bit… they should know that the sea folk has gotten used to cold waters over the last one hundred years, so they couldn't be waiting that only the drop in the temperature would be enough to make them lose.
In any case, things would have gone messy if the dragons had waited for another day to attack, but when night came, they began to move… a bit slowly, but they were certainly closing an encirclement around the Island.
"One hundred of them sacrificed themselves already, so they don't want to take any chances now…" Rain thought.
While Rain was thinking about that and waiting, he eventually felt the presence of something in the distance approaching above the ocean… Rain used Magic Eyes and soon found Iori approaching while using Impulse on the ocean surface. Without hesitation, Rain welcomed him by charging with all his might and punched his face…
