Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 904 904: I will have my revenge

Chapter 904 904: I will have my revenge

This shift in focus directed Iori's allegiance towards the dragons as he perceived it to be his best chance of exacting revenge on Sealyn and, indirectly, Rain through his descendants. Joining forces with the dragons offered Iori the tactical advantage he sought to confront and eliminate those connected to Rain..

"I knew that this wouldn't be easy, but…" Rain thought.

"We are going to heal the wounded. We can't afford to let them die, we already suffered too many losses," Seara said..

As Rain assisted the injured sea folk after the intense battle, he took note of the casualties on both sides. It became clear that the toll of the conflict had been severe. Among the sea folk, hundreds had tragically lost their lives, leaving a significant number of casualties in their path.

In contrast, the losses among the dragon forces were comparatively fewer, with approximately twenty or so dragons meeting their end in the battle.

This outcome wasn't an absolute defeat, given the considerable number of dragons that had engaged in the battle. However, the heavy loss of life among the sea folk, particularly when contrasted with the relatively minimal dragon casualties, signaled a challenging situation.

It was evident that the current scenario was unsustainable—such devastating losses on one side, while the other suffered relatively little, indicated a dire need for change. If these losses continued in the next encounters, it could prove catastrophic for the sea folk, emphasizing the urgency for a different approach or strategy in future confrontations.

"I can't do anything to help them with that since I am not their commander… I have to focus on that guy," Rain thought.

It was a bit troublesome that Rain was unable to solve the issue at once. Iori will return more cautious now, and Rain didn't have much time to prepare…

"Couldn't you have finished things if you had used the seals?" Seara asked when they reached the beach.

"The conditioner wasn't right for that," Rain said.

First seal, protect others. Second seal: when he is fighting for his family. The third seal, fight for the human kingdom. Technically, Rain could use the second seal.

Still, he imagined that the enemy would feel the power coming from Seara… it was a risk that Rain didn't want to take since plenty of people saw him using that technique against the dragons… he decided to keep his face hidden even after returning just in case as well.

"Anyway, whatever you did, it certainly helped," Seara said. "I thought that Sealyn and dad would be too tired after yesterday, but your power up helped a lot."

"... Ah, they didn't fight at full power," Rain said after blinking several times. "I didn't even consider that… maybe if they work together, they can deal with Iori, but I guess that guy is a problem that I have to deal with, somehow."

"Maybe you shouldn't, since you are friends with Esmeralda," Seara said while looking around and seeing the wounded sea warriors and the bodies of the fallen being moved to somewhere to be buried. "That could create a rift between us… even though she probably thinks that her little brother has been dead for one hundred years.

Nothing good will come out of informing her that he was alive, but soon you killed her."

"Still, it is a fact that he wants revenge against me by targeting Sealyn… I can't let things keep going like that," Rain said. "I don't let others solve the problems that I created."

Seara, realizing that Rain was resolute in his decision and unlikely to change his mind, made the choice to cease pursuing the matter further. Despite her concerns and differing opinions, she acknowledged that convincing Rain to change his mind wasn't feasible at that moment.

In her mind, she weighed the options and recognized that pressing further on the subject might not yield any different outcome.

Instead, she harbored a silent hope that Esmeralda, upon understanding the situation and the reasons behind Rain's decisions, would ultimately comprehend and accept the choices made when the appropriate time arrived.

Seara's silent hope rested on the belief that Esmeralda would grasp the circumstances and the rationale behind Rain's actions when they unfolded in due course in the name of their friendship.

In any case, Rain soon returned to the cliff to continue his training… at that point in time, he knew better than testing Seara's patience by heading alone where Isa was. Seara still had a lot of work ahead of her, even though she spent several hours working on healing the injured. Rain had things to do as well, even though he was a bit tired.

"I have to improve my chances of victory while also considering the amount of mana I can recover before the next battle," Rain thought. "I didn't gain any experience at all in this battle and while I kept Sealyn safe, everything else had been mostly a massive waste of time."

Regardless, Rain confirmed that killing Iori would be difficult, considering the effects of the armor. It was hard to say, but Rain was almost sure that the armor could destroy most forms of attacks while using water magic.

He had recovered some parts of the crystal Death Knight, and he could tell that… the pieces that cut Iori looked fine, but the other pieces that hit the armor had a weird shape on them.

The crystal shards, upon closer inspection by Rain, appeared minuscule, almost imperceptible to the naked eye. Their tiny dimensions belied their destructive potential. When Rain came into contact with the remnants of the shards and observed them closely, he discerned their shape—a peculiar formation reminiscent of small cylindrical structures pierced them.

Despite their small size, these counterattacks wielded an astonishing power that defied their appearance. Their impact on the coral Armor and subsequent collision with the combined forces of ice and earth magic was nothing short of remarkable. The shards managed to shatter thanks to this formidable combination of elemental defenses, despite being seemingly tiny and innocuous in appearance.
